No other world leader bows to the guy.. Why should president Obama?

Not so much a disgrace, just clumsey.
Parent - By FixaLinc (****) Date 11-16-2009 22:51
Owannabee probably has to bow for the money accepted from them to use here to help get elected ?  grrrrr

This  was written by Sherry Hackett, Buddy  Hackett's widow.........

"WE NOTICED"

President Obama:

Today I read of your administrations' plan to  re-define September 11 as a National Service Day. Sir, it's time we had a talk.........

During your campaign, Americans watched as you  made mockery of our tradition of standing and crossing your  heart when the Pledge of Allegiance was spoken. You, out of four people on the stage, were the only one  not honoring our tradition.

YES, "We noticed."

During one of your many speeches, Americans heard you say that  you intended to visit all 57 states.
We all know that Islam, not America has 57  states..

YES, "We noticed."

When President Bush leaned over at Ground Zero and gently  placed a flower on the memorial, while you nonchalantly  tossed your flower onto the pile without leaning  over.

YES, "We noticed."

Every time you apologized to other countries for America  's position on an issue we have wondered why you don't share our  pride in this great country. When you have heard foreign leaders  berate our country and our beliefs, you have not defended us. In  fact, you insulted the British Crown beyond belief.

YES, "We noticed."

When your pastor of 20 years, "G-D  America " and said  that 9/11 was " America 's chickens coming home to roost"  and you denied having heard recriminations of that nature, we  wondered how that could be. You later disassociated yourself  from that church and Pastor Wright because it was politically  expedient to do so.

YES, "We noticed."

When you announced that you would transform America ,  we wondered why. With all her faults, America is the  greatest country on earth. Sir, KEEP THIS IN MIND, "if not for   America and the people who built her, you wouldn't be sitting in  the White House now." Prior to your election to the highest  office in this Country, you were a senator from Illinois and  from what we can glean from the records available, not a very  remarkable one.

YES, "We noticed."

All through your campaign and even now, you have surrounded  yourself with individuals who are basically unqualified for  the positions for which you appointed them. Worse than that, the  majority of them are people who, like you, bear no special allegiance, respect, or affection for this country and her  traditions.

YES, "We noticed."

You are 9 months into your term and every morning millions  of Americans wake up to a new horror heaped on us by you. You seek  to saddle working Americans with a health care/insurance  reform package that, along with cap and trade, will bankrupt  this nation.

YES, "We noticed."

We seek, by protesting,  to let our representatives know that we are not in favor of  these crippling expenditures and we are  labeled "un-American","racist", "mob". We wonder how we are supposed  to let you know how frustrated we are. You have attempted to  make our protests seem isolated and insignificant. Until  your appointment, Americans had the right to speak  out.

YES, "We noticed."

On September 11, 2001 there were no Republicans  or Democrats, only Americans. And we all grieved together and  helped each other in whatever way we could. The attack on 9/11  was carried out because we are Americans.

And YES, "We noticed."

There were many of us who prayed that as a black president you could help unite this nation. In six months you have done  more to destroy this nation than the attack on 9/11. You have  failed us.

YES, "We noticed."

September 11 is a day of remembrance for all  Americans. You propose to make 9/11 a "National Service Day".  While we know that you don't share our reverence for 9/11, we  pray that history will report your proposal as what it is...a  disgrace.

YES, "We noticed."

You have made a mockery of  our Constitution and the office that you hold. You have  embarrassed and slighted us in foreign visits  and policy.

YES, "We noticed.."

We have noticed all these things. We will deal with you. When Americans come together again, it will be to remove  you from office.

Take notice.

If you agree with this please  pass it on.

Bowing to anyone is a sign of humility.  Humility is far better for relations than arrogance.
On Holy Thursday, priests around the world, including the Pope himself, wash peoples' feet as Jesus did.  Now that's humble.

Mike you should give me your address so I can send you a new keyboard.  It appears that your space bar works intermittently as well as your shift key.

What are Mrs. Hackett's credentials? Does she have a Political Science degree from Yale or what?
Now, I'm really curious as to what Rodney Dangerfield's widow has to say about current events...
Of course I wouldn't give "no respect" to her opinion on anything either.

You mistake humility with Kowtowing and ass-kissing.   The Pope is following a tradition in front of camaras, nothing more.

President Bush began every morning on his knees crying out to God for wisdom and inspiration to serve the people who put him into authority.  Quietly and with humility..   He started his days on his knees before he became president, continued during his presidency and even now begins his day in humility before the Lord.

Christ spoke, and the universe leaped into existence.  Christ washed the feet of His apostles to demonstrate servant leadership. I really doubt the Pope or the current President think of themselves as servants all that often.

I wholeheartedly agree Lawrence.  If one is looking for humility they would be better off to look at the lives of Mother Theresa, Ghandi or Dr. Greg Mortenson IMHO than the current president or the Pope.  In case anyone is looking to gig me on my punctuation that wasn't a mistake. . . . .it was intentional.  I refuse to capitalize the word until someone else holds the office.
Parent - - By BryonLewis (****) Date 11-18-2009 16:40
I think if "president" is used in front of their name like the current great president, President Obama, then it would be capitalized.  But just using the word in general as you did to state the name of the office, it should be lower case.  :-)

By jove you are correct Bryon.  I was only 1/2 a cup of coffee into my day. . . .  . that's as good an excuse as any I suppose.  I sure hope your never "spell checking" my QC paperwork LOL.  Are you working??  Or waiting???
Parent - - By BryonLewis (****) Date 11-18-2009 19:53
Oh man.  I was working.  But due to personal delimmas back at home, I became self-unemployed (LOL) and now I'm back waiting.  I thought I had something in the works but it got bumped back until the first of the year.  But I have a few other things that have come up today.  They'll probably fall through too.

I went from $280/wk unemployment to $1100/wk employment to $0/wk self-unemployment.  Ouch!!!
Parent - By swsweld (****) Date 11-19-2009 05:10
Sorry about the self-unemployment. Hope something comes your way quick.

No, not a train, a job :)

I hear you.  I'm done travelling for work myself.  I have a new girlfriend who means the world to me and she's just not having it.  After 2 failed relationships due to road life I suppose it's time for me to face facts also.  You can do pretty good at one or the other but most can't juggle both.  I may not ever even use my CWI again time will tell.  I'm going to get my HVAC school under my belt, take my Colorado Master Plumbing test and work for someone for about a year or so then I'm going to buy a van, tool up and go into "busyness" for myself again I think.  It has it's drawbacks but it sure has it's plus's too.  Hope you get on something soon.
Parent - - By BryonLewis (****) Date 11-19-2009 16:58
My buddy wanted to get into HVAC, and I wish he would've, I'm always paying out the a$$ to get something done.  But I talked him out of it.  It seems like everybody and their mom is into HVAC, roofing or computer related business here in KC.  Its all so cut throat that I don't know how anybody makes money doing it.  Of the few jobs that I see around for HVAC they want 5-6 years experience and they can get it because there's so many people that do it here.
What is getting me know is with so many people out of work the companies can pick and choose who they want.  Everybody wants very specific experience doing every job that I see.  "Ditch digger wanted:  5-7 years experience using 4 inch ACME trenching shovel model number OU812 WITH THE FIBERGLASS HANDLE, NOT WOOD.  If you don't have experience with this equipment then don't apply".
That an exageration but its damn close to what I'm seeing.  Good luck with the HVAC thing.  I knew a guy that was kind of into HVAC.  He would sell brand new central air units for $50 each.  He would go to new subdivisions in the middle of the night and take the units that were just put in.  Cut the lines and stick it in the truck.  :-)
At least he learned his lesson when he was in Federal lockup for drug and gun running.  He got into HVAC instead.  LOL :-)
Parent - By vagabond (***) Date 11-20-2009 14:50
I figured out a long time ago it's easier just to lie about your experience on your resume than actually get it real world.  It's how I got into welding. . . . . . .. and inspection for that matter ROFLMAO.  KIDDING!!!!  But seriously I've found that what companies ask for and what they will accept are 2 different things.  I've gotten more than one job I was not "qualified" for.  A recent survey indicated that 70% of the "techs" in HVAC do not have any formal training so I'm hoping the cert's I'm getting will get me in the door.  That and I've been piping systems for a lotta years,  I've just got to dummy up on the ductwork stuff.  But a good tech doesn't ever really have to do install work it should all be service oriented type stuff.  It is a cutthroat industry but any form of construction is these days. Oh by the way doesn't exageration have two g's???  LOL I owed ya that one!!!

Every priest does it not just the Pope, camera or not, it takes place.  God apparantly didn't listen to GW because he had no wisdom what so ever.

Now, I'm gonna have to look that one up.  I caught the tail end of a segment on the news last night where some of the ultra-conservative-pseudo-christians were making bumper stickers and t-shirts with this on it.  I've been too busy to look it up but I will check it out and I'm sure I'll get back to you on this.  :-)

Damn, that's not nice what so ever.

I'm going to take a deep breath and just agree to disagree.  :-)

I knew my new medication and therpist would help.  :-)

That is probably for the best Bryon. Take your meds regularly and don't miss an appointment. :-)

So explain if you can, why didn't Dear Leader Obama bow to QUEEN Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom?? Hmmm

Where's the humility there?

I see a pattern.....

During his Asian trip in China those greedy capitalist made these shirts.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpScuPz7l_M&feature=player_embedded

Wonder if this dude is considered a racist for these Tee shirts?
Parent - - By BryonLewis (****) Date 11-19-2009 04:27
What's the pattern then?

In Japan, bowing is a part of the culture.  Everybody does it at varying depths.  With the queen its more of a royalty vs commoner thing.  Brits don't go around and bow at each other.  But a subject of the queen should by tradition.

Bush held hands with Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia.  Does that mean that Bush is gay?  Or is that a Saudi custom like kissing each cheek is.

On a lighter note:
In March 2010, all in NC will bow down and kiss the arse of Bill Self and his name will be synonymous with excellence.  :-)
Parent - - By swsweld (****) Date 11-19-2009 04:44 Edited 11-19-2009 04:47
Must be tough being a lefty these days, huh Bryon? Lots of rationalizing going on.

Why then, did the WhiteHouse DENY that Pres. Obama bowed to the Saudi King?

So much ammo for the right and so little defense for the left.
Case in point, today Pres. Obama convicted and killed KSM...before the trial.
ACLU defense lawyer will have a field day with that one.

AG Eric Holders former law firm (he was senior partner)has defended dozens of terrorist.
Does he have a soft spot for them or if not wouldn't this be considered a conflict of interest?

Until March 2010 you can bow to the CURRENT NATIONAL CHAMPIONS THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA TARHEELS.
We will skip this year and repeat the next year. Get use to it.

:) :)

In the link at the top that Bryon posted it says at first it is the Japanese Emperor, then down a bit it has one person commenting that an American President should not bow to another. So, which one was it? I mean, the Japanese fella in the picture with our President bowing? Was it the Emperor of Japan or was it the Japanese President? Because they are two different people. The Japanese Emperor is still around for tradition but they also have a Japanese President. If it were in fact the Japanese President then the bow, especially one of that depth by our President should not have taken place. On the other hand, if it is in fact the Japanese Emperor, then I believe the bow was appropriate. Just a matter of respect and that position in the eyes of the Japanese commands more respect than even their President. I think Bryon compared it to the King and Queen of England.

I think I can compare it to a young fella....well, 38 speaking with an older fella(70-80-90+) and out of respect calling him sir. It may not start at 70, just using it as an example. Same could be said about our President bowing...kinda, the Emperor probably has dirt under his fingernails older than our President. I've bowed to my wifes parents, her grandparents....which was hard cause her grandma was like 4' 5" or something!! Had to get low there!! Great lady though!

Then again, do we have footage of other past Presidents meeting the Emperor of Japan? Have past Presidents done this as well? Not sure how it works, never met the Japanese Emperor, seen his house when I flew over Tokyo, drove by it once in Tokyo. Perhaps everyone must bow to the Emperor when they meet him, maybe time to do some studying on history. A movie keeps popping into my head, "The Last Samurai" when the round guy is explaining to Cruise and the other guy what they must do when they meet the Emperor. "Bow, if he bows lower you bow lower". I don't see it as azz kissing. Japan has been a strong ally for many years. If our President was not required to bow to the Emperor because of his status and he did it of his own free will I'd say the Emperor would have more respect for him in doing so, a cultural exchange if you will. I've gotten more help from the Japanese when I was over there when I tried to speak the lingo, even if it was wrong, mixed with english or whatever, more respect for me trying.

Ok, that's my ramblings, feel free to blast away.
