I posted some of these links in the "For Sale" section where more than likely not many will become aware of the fantastic properties of this type of filtered glass used for safety glasses... I believe these links will be more useful if they were also posted in here as well as in the Safety section as well... so if anyone is interested in better viewing capabilities for both cutting and welding, you might want to check out the information regarding these specialized optics... Here are some links to where one can both purchase the optics as well as where one can read up on the Technical & Safety aspects of these optics prior to making an informed decision as to whether or not one may want to try them out based on what they learn about the optics:
This is where you need to order those Superflux and anyone else interested:
Very cool Henry! I always have interest in state of the art optics. I have never been happy with standard offerings for torch work....there might be something in here I could use. THX Tommy
I use the older versions of the Amethyst (rose or Violet) tinted lens which are glass, and they are a real vision enhancement tool besides being ANSI Z 87 eye protection as well... It really does help you single out the weld pool, or puddle much better than with the blue colored welding lens that's similar to the color used in the no longer manufacture AO Welding Cool-Blue lens which some folk sell at very expensive prices these days!!! They do just as good of a job in filtering out what the Cool Blue's do, and the Gold plated Plastic welding lens lack in filtering out, so one can really concentrate on depositing better welds.
The newer versions are supposed to be even better which I have yet to try uot because like I said before, the one's I get come from my buddies who work @ USX, so I haven't paid for any of these yet. I will say this, the lens that are advertised in the links I posted in my previous posts are made of the same material that I get from my friends @ the Mills... The nwer type Didymium glass is supposed to be even better if that could be even possible but heck, I'll try them out to see if they're indeed superior to the older tried and true Amethyst lens I currently use. And they're certainly cheaper than those ridiculously expensive Cool Blues!!! So give them a try! You will not be disappointed!
