HUGE VIRUS COMING ! PLEASE READ & FORWARD !

I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up for this virus!
I checked Snopes, and it is for real. Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP. PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,'regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer.

This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list .. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN.

It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.

Nobody said it was... Are you sure you're not reading too much into it yourself? Because the only reason I posted this is because in the past, some participants in this forum have been infected with various virii due to unwittingly opening up some unfamiliar e-mail messages and voila! So this is more of a public service message to my friends in here as well as to other folks who have previously experienced some nasty issues from being infected via opening of e-mails.

If you have anything to add positive to this warning, then please by all means do so - CAPECHE???

Respectfully,
Henry

Henry I was not picking a fight but the e-mail you have recieved is false in many ways. One the virus is old news and it does not cause the destruction the e-mail states it does. I was just enlightening. I totally understand that you warn friends of the danger with the cost of computers now a days and the just plain old headache viruses cause. I am not a fan of propaganda and Henry you know as well as I do this world is full of it. These chain e-mails are mostly ridiculous don't you agree? Once again Henry you are a native to the great state of PA as am I, and I appreciate what you have done for the navy of this country. I was just trying to enlighten people of the situation. Remember your warning is what caused me to read the snopes article in the first place.

Hi Sharp, or should I say fellow Pennsylvanian!

Please do not misunderstand either because I too was not looking to start anything with you either!!! I merely mentioned it to folks in here who may not be computer savvy as some of us are, and sometimes are looking for a leg up so to speak on anything that may equate to potential problems with their PC's.

By the way, Snopes isn't ALWAYS correct so, don't simply rely on everything they say as well. The information I got regarding this virus does confirm what is written about it in this particular e-mail message... the source of confirmation comes from a good friend of mine who is a consultant with IBM, and had previously worked inside CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team), so this source is far more credible than what Snopes can come up with. My friend is one of top Computer geeks in the nation, if not the world, so whatever he says is to me coming from the most reliable source that I can confidently say is without reproach.

Over the years, he has consistently given me some of the best inside information regarding computers and how to protect them from being hacked than anyone who would claim otherwise, so yes! I'm not worried about my units!!! ;) ;) ;) Yet there are sadly to say, many folks out there as well as in here who are not privvy to the kind of advice I get from my buddy, so I pass it on to them instead. I know that this virus is not completely new, but to the general public it is relatively speaking of course. :)

Btw, what part of PA are you at???

Respectfully,
Henry

Now that is what I like to hear Henry hard data even if it is unpleasant data. And I realy appreciate the warning of a valid threat that you know of from experts in the field. Key word there valid as you and me know many things are not valid enough to waste time on. I believe you guys on this part of the forum call it Bryon Lewis's posts and responses. Sorry Bryon but I  call them as I see them.

Actually Henry I live in Evans City a small town about 45 minutes from the burgh.
