It would sure be nice if the tone of the normal threads in the forum were more polite. Prof. Crisi makes a simple post and all it's a war of words. I've read it and read it again, and don't understand it. The only good thing that came out of it was learning how to use the ignore button.

If you want to tell someone they are a stupid Sum***** tell them here. Not there.

Regards,
Gerald

I agree Gerald! ;) It's the same characters who start the same crap over nothing and when they get taken to the woodshed, they cry foul!!! :) :) :)

I must admit a certain amount of participation in it due to the fact that I poked some real innocent fun at the British Navy in an innocent way that caused a near riot over it, especially when it comes from someone that doesn't have clue as to what has been taken place in here as of late by some of the folks who come in here and instigate who just happen to be from that side of the pond if you catch me drift. ;)

It's getting to the point that one cannot even voice their own genuine opinion in here any longer without being attacked by these same characters... And to add fuel to the mix, you have this imbecil named awspartb who is the town cryer and nothing more than a whining fool who is wildly accusing me of threatening to kill him online on the internet, and is freaking out over it as well!!! Where do these friggin winners crawl out of I ask you Gerald??? It's really getting ridiculous out there and maybe now I understand a little better why our pla Bryon will not venture out to those sections any longer... Nah! it's always been like that only now, the characters are even nuttier than before that's all if that is at all possible!!! :) :) :)

I know one thing's for sure... some of those characters need to get their blood oxygen levels checked because some of crap coming from their imaginations are at best, very disturbing, and at the very least, comical to say the least!!! That's it!!! I'm going down below the thermals for a while until things sort of quiet down in here ,and then I'll surface again soon enough... speak to you soon Gerald! ;)

Respectfully,
Henry

Hi All!

I hope this reference is not aimed at me? I may not have posted on this forum for several months but believe you me, I have been aware of what has taken part! I am fully aware of certain persons ability to wind people up, in fact as a former moderator on UKWelding, I'll be the first to admit to having issues with these persons! However, my problem was not with your response about the British Navy, more about the blatant racialism, casting against British Engineers.

Too put it bluntly, the comment I had issue with was this:  "As I said before, Britishmen are arrogant and don't waste their precious time answering technical doubts from Third World, underdeveloped engineers like me."

I must say, this comment coming from someone as respected as G.S.Crisi was unexpected and somewhat shocking! I'm not overtly sensitive to PC criticisms but this sort of caught my attention!

I log onto this site to be educated and sometimes (not nearly enough) to educate! I have no need to be insulted or my race insulted! we have enough of that at home! If this is the way the AWS forum is going then I can see many people leaving!

As I have said before .........click the ignore button!

Regards

I agree to Gerald.  I find it childish to air dirty laundry out in the open forum.  I read part of the thread and it seems to have gone bad early.  The good thing about it is that I had nothing to do with this one.  But there was a common denominator in that rant as in those that I'm apart of.

I would like to see the alleged PMs posted where someone was threatened with violence.  That would indeed prove to be an important ingredient to some of the ongoings.
Regards,
Me

Byron,

I don't think there is any good purpose served in seeing any PM's or emails regardless of their content. In my opinion, it would only serve to throw salt in a wound that needs to heal and go away.

Well if the guy is stressing such allegations as he has then he should put up or shut up.  I would!  I know we all can get a little nutty here but I personally wouldn't send such PMs or attack someone's Inbox with threats, etc.  So if its that important to continually bring it up, then at least put it out there for justification purposes, that is if these PMs exist.
At least that's my take.

The whole thing is a mess.

I don't see how it is any better to make an ass out of yourself in the off topic area rather than in a topical part of the forum.

Is that what it has come to... People behaving one sort of way in one area and another sort in another area?

The lack of personal self dicipline is stunning.  People unable to resist saying ugly and provocative things to each other.  Long rambling threads that suck any value and joy out the experience of reading the forum.

I took four days off from the forum... Drove cross country with my wife and saw; prong horned antelope, 1300 miles of snow.  The Rockies, The Sierras; had a hand cut Nebraska ribeye that was about the best thing I ever put in my mouth, and drank alot of monster coffee.

Come back today only to find we have more of the same vomit, spewing forth from the same sources.

I'm embarrassed to be associated with this mess.  Embarrassed in the public forum.. Embarrassed in the off topic area.

Everybody is innocent, it's always the other person who needs to behave better. Or....They are only responding to the other person who provoked them.   Or..... we must make sure to point out that the other person has been an oaf in the past 'how dare one person point out that the other is out  of line".... If it's wrong it's wrong fellas......... and it really doesn't matter if the person who points it out may have been wrong sometime in the past or even the day before.

People certainly have the right "it appears" to make fools of themselves and have those words captured long term on this web forum.

Do you people really think it is going to be a good thing  for folks to come upon these stupid and vile threads in the weeks, months and years to come?  If you don't care how that might make you look..  You should reconsider.

In my opinion the value of the posters and their professional excellence does *not* outweigh the blathering barf that comes out of them in these foolish displays.  Apparently Ross does not agree.  I would rather that these individuals be banned, even though I admire and respect them on a professional level, have corrisponded with several for the better part of 10 years and I'm fond of them personally.  Enough is enough.

My 4 year old granddaughter has been granted more wisdom and self-control.

If your gathering your bluster to provide yet another provocative and pithy response, or comment on my grammer, spelling or punctuation,... Don't bother if your pointing it toward me.. I prolly will not be watching.  If you want to cement your legacy as a fool by leaving yet another foul disruptive post to be kept on the forum web server for years to come. fire away.  Your inability to control yourselves is already long been proven.

Well put Lawrence.

While this is a more private area that one must request access to, thus the casual observer will never see it, I don't feel some of the extreme battles need to exist at all.

I know, we all love our profession and are passionate about our personal training, experiences, practices, knowledge, wisdom, resources, etc.  Often too much so.  It even borders on self centered pride.  When it gets there, we become intolerant of the opinions of others.  Even, stop respecting one another.

Yes, there are times to attempt to instruct the foolish, unlearned, inappropriate comments and/or practices of some.  I have been properly chastised by some of you for some of my posts because of my false advice due to improper lessons I had picked up in the past.  I thank those of you who have done so.

MY OPINION,  it is better recieved when done in the right kind of a teaching spirit and attitude with a few properly placed facts (not all at once, you might push the wrong button).  Then, if I/you/they correctlly ask for more info, continue to instruct, patiently bringing the student along.

BUT, there is a time to let a fool be a fool and leave him wallowing in his own folly.  Others will see him for what he is.  And as his advice and reputation slip away and he discovers that people are just plain ignoring him, he will slip into the sunset.  Possibly drowning in his own self pity as well.

Most of all, I feel some are beginning to slip into the trap of lowering themselves to the level of those they desire to expose, convert, run off, etc.  Please don't.  Ultimately you only hurt yourself and your reputation.

Those on both sides of any issue need to learn to swallow the meat and spit out the bones, give others the chance to digest new info.  Some times we must hear things more than once before it begins to sink in, especially if it is contrary to what we were taught in the past.

I hope I made sense.  I appreciate this forum and its participants very much.  Even the opposing views.  It gives me a chance to refresh my data base (brain) and make sure of what I believe, why I believe it, and how/where I can prove it.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year One and All!!

Have a Great Day,  Brent

Things are looking up! I misspelled BAH and no body called me down on it.

In spite of all the unfavorable rhetoric, this is still a great forum and if we could just confine the subject matter of this string to the OTBG would be nice. How ever, for some that seems to be asking a great deal of them. Hopefully they will loose interest in brow beating one another but not likely.

In the mean time we are left with ignoring it (not them, but it) and moveing on, after all people will be people and none of you are as good as me (not even as good looking)(talking about male participants there folks) there for I must be more indulgent and sort through contents with that in mind:-)

I would request that, Please don’t anybody with draw from this forum, but you might consider that every Diamond has many sides that can only be viewed from different angles. There for there is no need to try to force your view on anyone. Just play nice.

For what its worth…….

Note that I said if you want to. I agree with what you say, but still, if someone feels compelled to digress to childhood for whatever reason, it should be done here, not in the open forum. The Gentlemen from England stated it best, you don't have to answer, just simply click ignore. I didn't realize that function existed until he mentioned it.

Regards,
Gerald

Gerald, Noted.

I couldn’t agree more. I was primarily rambling in hopes that enough voices’s might be a stronger influence.

It matters little what any one post if someone is here for the sole purpose of looking to berate some one or vent frustrations and normally a word to the wise is sufficient when ignoring fails.

You have to admit though if you had no personal interest here some of it would be out right comical. But seeing how this is our Forum we should endeavored to take care of it as we would our own personal effects.

Here I go rambling again, its an age thing I guess, 40 years ago I would be in the middle of it all, Oh darn I think  that’s exactly where I’m at.
