Political polarization has reached a new level it seems. A very large number of people are now standing around pointing fingers at one another saying 'it's your fault' yet they all are losing.

Was there much difference between Bush and Obama? Not really. The difference to this country is simply how it's destroyed. Neither man is more than a stooge for their respective parties, and both are going down in history as two of the most incompetent presidents the nation has ever seen.

While everyone stands around pointing fingers, and throwing rocks at glass walls, the country goes further and further into the hole.

Political correctness is now used as a weapon. Disagree with Obama, and suddenly your a racist, not a lot different from the war on terror card played by Bush, disagree with Bush and your weak on terrorism.

People want to call themselves african americans, native americans, asian americans, hispanic americans, what ever happened to simply being called an "American"?

I've heard the black liberation party state that it's impossible for them to be racist. Yet a white, asian or other "liberation party" would be automatically called racist by nearly one and all. Has the country gone completely mad when a fireman must go to the supreme court to get a promotion because his skin isn't black?

I've got a novel idea, how about an "American Liberation Party". Whose only criteria for entry is belief in the American dream as put forth by our founding fathers. Politicians can't have that can they? Where is the divisiveness in that? Can't raise big campaign bucks without the antagonistic group pissed at the protagonist. Politicians of today are never at it to bring the country together, that would eliminate their power base and fund raising ability, so therefore they create enemies, real and imagined. The power of division and the ability to manipulate, the real reasons politicians get elected.
Can't keep the sheeples under their collective thumbs if they all acted as one. Kind of the reason the unions first got started.

The power of the collective voice. What say we collectively tell the republicans and democrats to kiss our collective arses?
We need a big shot of clorox in the US political system.

A few opinions for what it's worth,
Gerald

Dont know if this mess has an easy or palatable fix. The thieves in power are the same ones for many years that have thrown this country into the crapper. Any time one party has enough votes to just pass anything your just begging for an ass whooping.  Heres a thought= any chance for three senators from each state? One Independant, One Demacrat and One Republican. Make them 2 term politicions that must take 4 years off  between a new political career or working for the government in any way.  Do the same thing in the house of representitives as far as the number from each party. Sure would put a dampner in the pass the pork attitude we have now.

Something is going to happen in this country that will bring a revolution of sorts. Maybe we can all not pay our bills and ask for a bail out from all of the countries we have given money to in the last year. Not to pick or "o" and his panthers but the money is flowing out faster than china can ship it over here. But the pockets still have a gaping hole that all of the change falls through.

Stop the spending and pissing on America.  Keeping jobs at home and not making them in the government.

I dont give a rats ass about the race or what part of America the President is from as long as thier first and foremost attentions are directed at preserving and defending our homeland. The people who make this a race issue are too greedy, stupid or scared to face the truth of whats really being done to America. The systematic removal of one right after another and the governmental stranglehold on the land has just begun. I dont think anyone has a clue as to how many mandates, rules, regulations and powers have been altered in the last 12 months. Pay raises for all in government coupled with more perks than Tiger Woods. (sorry Tiger)

Yes GW and "o" are at the leading edge of this problem but the policies of the previous commanders also comes into the picture. Anyone who would have to pay off senators and states to get some bill passed that is supposed to be in the American peoples best interest should be to blame. Heres a hint: Dont sign the damn thing if its not required spending or has no bearing to the main bill at hand.

Wow do I feel like going to the range or dogging now.

There is hope for a better new year. We are Americans still and we have the voting power to change anything if we feel the need.
Vote Early and is needed Vote Often

Seasons Greetings
Dave

I would have to agree with both of you. We are in for some change and this health care bill they keep force feeding us, yikes. Seems like another way to force business out of the country. Our current and former President's, agreed...they are both one giant joke.

Polarization definition

Gerald,
The last time the county was so polarized along political lines was the 1850's
You were either on one side of the issue or the other. From a historical perspective, there was no way to change the debate except by crushing one ideology.
And do not forget, it was 4 years into the war before the tide turned toward the Union side.
And to read the history of the early 1850's there was no indication of the level of bloodshed that was to occur in 10 years.
There is such a level of disgust and distrust of elected officials, and they give no reason to trust, both sides of the political spectrum no one believes the representatives ar their first to preserve and protect the Constitution, but all elected officials are there to further their own careers and ideology.
There were times in the early 1850's where the war of succession could be avoided. But even then, the elected representatives decided to protect themselves and their ideology, and carnage followed. We are following the same path. Our Republic is being torn between two ideologies that cannot exist together. Time will tell which one will prevail.
But in all cases where these ideologies have clashed, carnage has followed.
And sometimes it has been economic and not blood.
But for the participants, it has not ended well.
