I gotta call bad taste on this one.

Cactus and his post is pointing out what happens when people illegally cross a boarder.

Cambodians, Laotions, Hmong, Thai,,,  These people are obviously gaining access to the U.S. legally... The vast majority of these work dilligently to gain citizenship..   Big difference.

I'm sure the same jokes about cats were tossed at the Irish and the Puetro Ricans back at the turn of the last century.. Poor taste then.. Poor taste now.

If you don't like Asians,  why don't you just come out and say it?

Lawrence are you surprised with this bunch?
Parent - - By RonG (****) Date 01-18-2010 16:09
Lawrence, I agree with you but alas, I think you waste your time. Ignorance and religion can sometimes be the most damning of any population. One breeds contempt while they both fuel mob mentality.

Some of these contributors are not aware or don’t care that their folks came here for the same reason as the latest newcomers.

A long time ago, the local natives welcomed the new comers here and look what happened.

There is nothing new under the Sun not even the inevitable repetitions we go through.

You can bet most of the dissenters had Grand or Great grand parents that went through the same issues.

I wonder how many people here know what WOP means and whom did it apply to?

I use to find the OTB&G amusing and occasionally interesting but as of late there is getting to be heavy with narrow mindedness, particularly in the areas of trying to blame someone else for the problems they’ve created for them selves.

Yea I know, I’m wasting my time also.

I think this is the problem with people that have a problem with others' flags.  Others use their homelands flag as an ethnic symbol more than national pride.  Contrary to irrational belief it is not an invasion where soon we will be the United States of Mexico.  Americans for the most part have lost ethnicity.  This country is too young to have a distinct ethnic makeup and I really doubt it ever will.  So for Americans our flag is a symbol of nationalism whereas other immigrants here it is a symbol of their ethnicity.

Oh yeah, WOP=With Out Papers.  Ellis Island.  If Italians that came through there didn't have any paperwork or not the proper paperwork, they were branded WOP and had to wait to follow others to the shores of their new home.

Hispanics are the most recent victims of racism.  Germans, Italians, Irish and many others have faced the same thing generations ago.  Put any other country in the geographic and economic place where Mexico is and watch the influx of economic refuges.  And watch the same people ***** about them here.  Instead of *****ing about the immigrants coming in you all should start caring about the jobs that are going out.  The American populace is so distracted with a plethora of issues that they can't agree on a single problem let alone a solution.  Pointing fingers at everyone else is much more important I guess than confronting what really is of importance.  Racism is still alive and well in America.

And yes, any rational thinking here is a waste of time.

Things are not always as we learn them.
a few Google searches lent this to the thread.
Wop is an American English pejorative ethnic slur for an Italian. It is derived from the Neapolitan word "guappo" (often pronounced simply as "guap'" in the regional dialect), meaning a person who flaunts an overbearingly cocky and swaggering attitude.
In the past, it also could refer to someone following the guapparia, meaning bravery i.e., the ancient honour code of Camorra, a criminal organisation based in Naples and the region of Campania, which bears similarities to the better-known Sicilian Mafia.
In Italy, the term "guappo" is still used, often sarcastically, to describe those young native men who really try hard to act brave, play cool, court every pretty girl, and those that are arrogant to the point of inciting a fight.
It was brought to the USA by early Italian immigrants from the region of Campania, who named those suspected to belonging to the Guapparia "Guappi", in a similar fashion the Sicilians used the term "Mafiosi". Widely used in Chicago where most immigrants from Campania settled — one of its native sons Al Capone was a typical Guappo — it was confused by the non-Italian population to indicate people of Italian origins, similarly the word "Paesano".
Contrary to popular belief, it is most likely not an acronym for "With Out Papers" or "Without Passport", one of the most famous examples of folk etymology or backronym. The reason for this is that the term was already in popular use as early as 1910, a period in which no immigrant needed papers to enter the United States (passports and visas were not required of immigrants entering the country until 1921).[citation needed]
This insult was recently used by Welsh Assembly Member Alun Cairns on a live broadcast from Radio Cymru on Friday 13th, June 2008, when he referred to the Italian Euro 2008 football team as "Greasy Wops". As a consequence, he resigned from office.
I never felt good or better as a name caller so I try to refrain from doing it as much as possible. LoL

As the saying goes "You can't un ring a bell". Just as the people (some of the people) in The Netherlands regret having let the kitty out of the bag, we hung a plauqe out front with "Give us your ...... " you get the point, don't ya? Well? Do we? Or don't we?

Shucks it don't matter cause we did, and we left the WELCOME mat out, so what do you expect?

We get all teary eyed and proud when talking about the Lady with the torch out in the port until the reality of it moves in next door.

The one thing that causes more problems is the narrow-minded resentment of so many people it gives all the imports legal or other wise one common goal. Bet you never guess what that might be, and the louder you scream the more united they will become.

This is all just rhetoric I know, but what a waste when we could make better use of the time with out throwing fuel on fires that serve no purpose but to breed contempt.

I'm sure in the bustling metropolis that is Friona, there is not a varied ethnic pool.  You should try to go to Chicago or NYC.  You can go neighborhood to neighborhood and see tons of different flags.  And yes, even WHITE PEOPLE that don't speak english.  Heaven forbid that happens, right.  Those same people that are victimized and denegrated by "Americans" had just as much of a hand building this country as anyone.  Maybe the Statue of Liberty should be sent back to France because the inscription means nothing to many people:

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door."

Its the business owners that are giving jobs to immigrants both legal and illegal.  And I'm sure they are for the most part caucasians.  Should they be more harshly punished by law or sent out of the country?  This is a fine example of why the message that Jesus, Gandhi, Dr. King and many others have professed has fell upon deaf ears.  Ignorance.

If you want to keep illegals out of the country this is what you need to do.  Instead of build a border wall you need to put up giant movie screens to show the economic refugees the true nature of many Americans.

Sooo tired of the constant American bashing. But you are entitled to your opinion. After all, this is America.

> If you want to keep illegals out of the country this is what you need to do.  Instead of build a border wall you need to put up giant movie screens to show the economic >refugees the true nature of many Americans.

The true nature of America is leading the effort in Haiti right now. Our government (I give credit to Pres. Obama) is sending 100 million dollars plus countless aid from our government...our tax money. And I support that. Additionally [evil greedy corporations] have already pledged 4o million, The private sector of America will give more than the government. http://money.cnn.com/2010/01/15/news/economy/haiti_corporate_giving.fortune/index.htm?postversion=2010011811 Christian churches will contribute heavily. In NC where I'm from, in the local news there is story after story of people wondering if their missionaries or local church group made it through the quake. EVERY time that the status was found out and the picture was shown on TV they were WHITE. My last church and my present church supports Haiti missions. Not just money but trips to Haiti to build schools, doctors and nurses going down to give medical treatment to Haitians. I know most of them are republicans. I get tired of the stereotype that white republicans are stupid racist as you commonly suggest. In fact one of your heroes Ugo Chavez has just told the world that the US military is occupying Haiti and not giving aid to the people. We have used this catastrophe to occupy Haiti. Danny Glover (liberal) has said that we are to blame and the quake is from global warming that we caused. Several liberals blame the US (I listen to them on Sirius Left Radio) for Haiti being poor and destitute. We have given hundreds of millions of dollars to Haiti and the corrupt so called government will confiscate it and leave the people with nothing.

True nature of Americans is that we are the most generous people in the world regardless of which party is in power. We just get tired of people spitting in our face. Ugo, D Glover and the like.
China sent 1 million. Saudi Arabia sent a note of condolences. ugo sent one plane with aid.
This excerpt is from a Canadian newspaper:

>As hopeless as conditions were in Haiti before the earthquake, they are even more critical now – and the world seems to be responding, especially the U.S., the most generous nation in the history of the world.

>Canada, too, responded quickly.

Several countries have been generous, others non existent, others have already used this disaster to condemn the US.

True nature of Americans. Getting tired of the condemnation. What if We the People did nothing for Haiti?? The world??

Once again. I think I posted this somewhere else but I will share with you all here. No one gives a damn about Haiti until something like this happens. The govt is quick to dump money to nation build in Iraqi Why not desose the Haitian govt and rebuild that sh*t hole. One reason, there is nothing there. No oil, gold or anything else. Just like Rwanda, Darfur. No one cares.

Bryon,
We have been pissing away mega money to Haiti for years. Both parties and the UN with next to no results. So BS on your thinking. The response to this natural disaster has been massive and fairly quick considering the amount of damage to the country. The loosers in this are the children sitting in their own filth and starving. Thousands of recently abandoned and those children that lost parents could be taken in like we did British, Irish and Scottish  kids during Hitlers attempt at redistributing the wealth.  Your wrong that there is nothing in Haiti that would bennifit the US, it would be a great place to show the world that people given a little help and materials can rebuiild their own country. We dont need to throw huge buckets of cash at them,Bury the dead, clean-up the damaged buildings, get them water, food and building materials. Human nature and the natural survival instincts will take care of the rest. Well maybe keeping the peace untill they can do it themselves.

But what do I know.
Seems like less surprises me every day.

www.hedprogram.org/Portals/0/RFA%20docs/Haiti/Haitistrategy.doc

C.  Congressional Earmarks and Directives.  In total, Haiti received $75.3 million in Congressional earmarks and directives in FY 2006. Haiti received US$47.3 million for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (the Emergency Plan).  Of this total, USAID manages US$21.1 million and CDC manages US$26.2 million. The Emergency Plan continues through FY 2008 and is expected to provide similar or slightly greater levels each year.  In addition USAID receives about US$20 million per year in child survival funding for Haiti and is expected to receive similar amounts during the strategy period. For both Emergency Plan and child survival funds, USAID expects to be able to direct funding to urban hotspots and conflict-vulnerable populations, particularly youth and women.

USAID also has received earmarked Basic Education funding for the past several years.  In FY 2006 Basic Education funding is $5.5 million.  The Mission expects similar or higher levels through the strategy and will direct them within the overall strategy to support activities with school-aged children in urban hotspots, the USAID targeted watershed(s), and other locations. In FY 2006 USAID received $2.5 million earmarked for Higher Education, funds which are not expected to be available in future years.

The FY 2005 appropriations bill directed USAID to “develop a plan for the reforestation of areas in Haiti that are vulnerable to erosion which pose significant danger to human health and safety.”  In response, USAID will support a multi-faceted program to improve management of critical watersheds, improve rural livelihoods, build sustainable forest management, and reduce the vulnerability of Haiti’s citizens to floods and hurricanes.

D.  Other USG Assistance and Other Donor Programs.   The U.S. is Haiti’s largest bilateral donor and has invested over $420 million in the past two years.  The USG has to date provided about 27% of MINUSTAH funding.   STATE/INL plans to provide approximately $15 million/year for HNP training and support through the same period.  The U.S. Coast Guard will continue to provide training and support to the Haitian Coast Guard for drug interdiction, and the Drug Enforcement Administration will provide similar assistance to the HNP and related groups.  USDA/APHIS plans to maintain the in-country mango inspection, which will contribute to economic recovery.  HHS/CDC will remain a valued partner in the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, with an estimated $25 - $30 million/year through FY 2008.  Should new Department of Defense resources for security and stabilization become available, these resources should complement all USG efforts in Haiti. USAID has four USAID/W-managed Child Survival grants operating in Haiti, and is also providing regional support to a conflict mitigation program along the Haiti-Dominican Republic border.

Lawrence,
Thanks for the money trail info. I had read some of the $$$ history and the amounts are staggering. Wouldnt it be nice if some of the moneys got to the people for a change? Temperary water systems would take weeks to get basic coverage but at least the water would by free of scalpers and thieves.(with the help of some marines)

Ok Bryon,

You say things like this... Inflammatory and provacative statments against your country and your countrymen...  Then you are proven wrong.

There are a long list of programs that the U.S. has invested uncounted millions into Haiti in the last 20 years... When you say "we don't give a S*it."

America has given 100 times more than any other country or any of Haiti's neighbors.

Isn't it about time for you to apoligize, offer up a Mia Culpa?

Is it simply your style to ignore people when you are proven so very wrong about such a very important issue.???????

Time to admit you were ignorant of the good things your country has done for Haiti and wrong in your judgement and condemnation in this case?

Your rage against America also does not take into consideration the many more millions brought into Haiti by Christian Fundimentalist religious folks you so often speak hatefully about.  American Christian clinics provide most of the health care for Haitians.  American Christian missionaries actually go to Haiti and do work,,, like building, repairing, and teaching.  These American Christians do this at their own expense, they don't wait for a government to finance them.

Have you gotten off of your duff to help these people?     Or are you simply raging when the fact is you expect other people to be taxed at a higher rate than youself and then have THEIR money sent off to Haiti, while you sit on your couch and type in chatrooms about how greedy and terrible those very contributers are??????

Just askin.

A few things I have noticed about Bry is ….He never admits he is wrong , never gets involved in a political debate that undeniably implicates his heroes, and everything is the fault of European Americans.
So to expect him to say “I stand corrected and you are right” is not part of his character, like I did when he pointed out something I was wrong about.

I saw this movie the other day called "District Nine" and at first I thought "Oh well, it's just another Sci Fi flick that will end up with the same type of ending I'm used to for that kind of a movie..."

Well, I was quite surprised of the message behind it, and the reason why I mention it in this thread is because, I wonder how a situation like that would actually be handled realistically speaking of course!!! I wondered if we would stoop as low as the humans did in that movie, and I said to myself: "Maybe even lower than what I saw in what was a friggin movie for cryin out loud!!!"

Or maybe we would all become enslaved to the visitor illegals from another planet!!! Bad Friggin Karma huh??? We would be protesting for rights as humans like the native Americans still do in reality today - Go figure huh? What goes around come around??? Hmmmmmm.....

Here's the reality of it all from my perspective if anyone's interested... First off, none - well almost none of these illegals are coming to this country to steal from the rest of us for the most part, and just like any of the previous ethnic waves of illegal immigration before the current wave, for the most part the people who came here beforehand eventually made this country even stronger than it was through their contributions and sacrifices before they showed up to be a part of the great American Experiment!!!! You see, some of you have NOT been well taught in school because it's obvious that this country is still evolving!!! In other words, we're still part of a great EXPERIMENT going on called THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!! :) :) :)

So let's go back to contributions and sacrifices for a minute...

There are a whole lot of what are known as illegal aliens that have enlisted and are right now fighting for the country they choose to die for so that they can become citizens of THESE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD!!! Those folks, both men and women do not need to be insulted by being labeled as illegal aliens, or to be included as part of a very, very small minority of bad apples that always tend to make the rest of the bunch look rotten as well!!!

Generations of illegals before this current bunch did the same and some were our own parents and grandparents, or great grandparents, or great-great grandparents!!! So to those who have sacrificed for the privilege of becoming an American citizen with their blood and guts, please respect those folks who came here for a greater opportunity, for a better life and who have sacrificed for your own freedom here - REMEMBER THAT!!!

The same thing happened before with the Africans who for the most part were forced to come here against their own free will as slaves in the first place, the Italians, the Irish, the Japanese, the Chinese, the Germans, the Swedes, the Russians, the Polish, The Greeks, the Dutch who were one of the first Europeans in the New World!!! And many other ethnicities in between whom I might have forgot to include all went through the same type of ignorance as the Mexicans and Central Americans do today! The difference between the current wave and the previous waves are very, very small!!!

And don't give me that crap about them not wanting to learn the language in order to become assimilated because the same stuff happened with the other previous waves also!!! the ones who eventually did learn to assimilate continued to succeed in this country no matter where they eventually set their permanent roots at, and the ones that didn't still struggle to break out of their own ethnic enclaves today, so it's more of a wanting to assimilate rather than the notion of these folks being incapable of assimilating.

Generations upon generations of Americans who may have blood lines that go back to the Civil war or even further, or maybe even just a few generations of American born ancestry have always complained about the new comers whether they were with papers or without - coming to this country!!! Anyone ever see the movie "the Gangs of New York???" That one is most definitely an eye opener for sure if you haven't yet!!!

We all need to start to get along and stop pointing fingers at each other for crying out loud!!! The greatest generation is the one that is yet to come IMHO!!! That's the only way we're going to survive as country, and continue this GREAT AMERICAN EXPERIMENT WHICH EVERYONE IS A PART OF WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT!!!

Respectfully,
Henry

Once again, do you know what the term "WOP" means??? No it does not mean exclusive to the Italians only although it was used mostly at them at least where I grew up!!! It means anyone who has come to America including German immigrants, "With Out Papers!!!" So NO ethnicity is innocent of coming here illegally,no matter how long ago!!! The only exceptions are the Native Americans, and the African slaves who were forced to come here against their own free will - PERIOD!!! If anyone in here thinks I'm wrong, then they're too ignorant to read & accept the truth!!! :( :( :(

Respectfully,
Henry

Have you ever seen a list of of names of the folks serving (putting thier lives on the line) in our US forces over seas? Check it some time before you make to much noise about whos dieing to protect this country.

I know a few my self-whos parents can just barely speak English, not because the don't want to but because are so busy trying to support a family on the wages paid in the places you mentioned. But they are proud to have a son/daughter serving in our Army.

Me thinks a lot of you are jerking the wrong Yoyo, The illegal’s are not the ones causing the problems, its the established ones trying to throw some S*%$# back in our faces for what they or the parents went through to get establish. Uh.... how does it go???? Oh yea. "What goes around comes around" or something like that.

Who put them SOB in charge anyway? Maybe they snuck in to those postions while we were a sleep. Had to be! We proud ??? Anglo's? What the hell are we anyway? I know my Great grand folks had some Scotch & Irish whiskey in at some time or another, after the came here it was mostly Moonshine tho.

Back to the subject at hand, How do you suppose all this came about? Did your parents let it happen? I know my Dad would not let such things happen, so it must have been the rest of you guys.

Unless I am mistaken, in this country if you want to change things you get out and talk to a lot of people, collect a following and then run for a public office. That will give you the opportunity to do it your way, while the rest of us sit at home pounding on our key boards trying right all the wrong in the world.

Fix

"...they would have been shunned as citizens. "

Irish were shunned

Germans were shunned

Italians were shunned

Dutch were shunned

Anybody with dark skin was shunned

These people worked their tails off to fit in and they were denied for generations...  Our golden history has undeniable warts.  Some people are just as unwelcoming now it seems.

If you had read my post.. You would have noted that I had an argument with *legals* folks being bashed.  Knock yourself out bashing illegals, got no beef with that.

Ever been to a St. Paddy's parade... Ever see an Irish flag at a pub?    Fer crap sake.

If you don't know anything about your parents/grandparents mother tounge and heritage... Thats your great loss.

Among the people who have died for this country are the Irish, Germans, Italians, Dutch...

Are you suggesting that anybody that does not agree with you...  "do NOT belong here "   ?

If folks don't learn the language thats their great problem... They are going to miss out on alot of opportunity.

In my dealings with illegals and legals it seems to be a matter of age on whether they will learn english. The younger ones pick it up pretty well. I worked with alot of Laotians.  A white guy was breaking their balls one time. He asked them why did they all seem to live in the same neighborhood. One Lao stood up and said, "We dont want to live by as*holes like you." I laughed my balls off.

What about the Kwanzaa and Hannukah stamps.  This is what gets me about people like you.  You are too stupid to see that those isolated cases that you posted are just that ISOLATED.  They do no represent each and every F*cking Muslim on the planet.  Just as the Klan doesn't represent every white boy from the country.  But those fringe ideas are what fuels problems between different ethnic groups.

OK someone research this figure for me.  I want to see a comparison of Number of Americans killed by Muslims versus the number of Muslims killed by Americans.  What's the difference?  Attacks on millitary targets should not be counted just civilian deaths.

To lump Islamic extremist into the same group as a normal tax paying, American muslim is ridiculous.  Its as bad as using Pat Fu*king Robertson as a "typical" Christian.  Mother f*ck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I will go to the post office and by nothing but those stamps.  If the stamps celebrated the destruction of the WTC then no. But what is Eid al-Adha?  Did you stop and look that one up.  Probably not.  You probably posted this crap from some email from another dumb a$$.  Typical swill here.

Here let me enlighten you since apparantly you are ignorant.  Eid al-Adha is a holiday celebrating Ibrahim's (Abraham's) willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah (God).  Now since you are such a "good and patriotic" American, I would assume that you are also Christian.  Now in the Bible some where I assume that you have read or at least heard of this event.  It is a common event in Judaism, Christianity as well as Islam since they are all related.
Yes I said it.  ALL THREE RELIGIONS ARE RELATED.  Until the ignorant fools in both the West and the Muslim world removes their heads from their A$$es murder, war and "terrorism" will continue until Judgement Day.  I can't wait for that to happen.  It going to be better than Avatar in IMAX.

Calm down Bryon, just chatting here and you know the old saying (I got a million of them) goes something like this, "Imitation is the most sincere form of Flattery".

I believe we (humans) are destined to continue making the same mistakes repeatedly until we run out of time or we get it right (imagine that). We’ve made some progress in the last 1000 years, hell we have the means to kill so many folks in just one shot now we couldn’t count them and due to the power of the weapon there may not be enough left of them to count. All we gotta do is figure out who has the guts to be the first to pull the trigger and then we can erase DIVERSITY from Dictionarys.

Just remember (another saying) “Opinions are like Ass holes, we’ve all got one” just some are uglier than others. With that in mind we really shouldn’t encourage them to expose them selves.

And right now, it would seem, the only people with the will to pull that trigger are....from....  ....  .... well, anyone care to finish that statement?

Bryon,
First off I don't care about stamps.

But a point has been brought to your attention which you have ignored and is related to your following rhetoric:

"This is what gets me about people like you.  You are too stupid to see that those isolated cases that you posted are just that ISOLATED.  They do no represent each and every F*cking Muslim on the planet. "

These cases are not isolated they are *SYSTEMIC*  ..   Systemic of all Islamics?  No.    Systemic of a minority of Islamics.. Yes..

How large is that minority...???

Count the Islamics eager to spill western blood in the hundreds of millions.

The peaceful Sufis you like to quote..  These people are a tiny fraction..  The tollerant American Imams would be quickly assanated if they spoke their inclusive rhetoric into a microphone in a middle eastern nation.

Islam is violent against itself... and Islam is violent against anything western or Jewish..  Systemically...    This is not opinion Bryon.. It's the bloody and devilish fact.

Gota go with Lawrence on that one!!!! I can remember the same rhetoric coming from Islam from clear back to my pre-teen days (that was a hell of long time ago).

They have just expanded their scope of hate over the years. I don’t hate them (none violent types) but I sure as hell don’t trust them either. Uhm now that I think about it that can be said about a lot of folks but the religious ones worry me (of any religion) seriously, and the more religious they are the more I worry.

It's simply amazing what some folks will do in the name of their deity (don’t want to invoke the name of mine).

Good point Cactus and oh so true!

Getting over here legally that is a SOB right there. My wife is Japanese and it took us about two years of paperwork and hoops. Spent hours on the phone with the INS trying to reach a real person to ask questions about legal form number blah, blah, blah. Should have had her just stow away on a cargo ship years ago and it would have been easier!! LoL!!!

Ahh, the Irish, after they did away with slaverly they brought in the Irish. I can talk....I'm Irish! So that must be racial discrimination to myself?? Drunken Irish ancestors, Horse thieven German ancestors and my kids are Japanese. Next world war will land them in a detainment camp for sure!

Congratulations to you and your wife on a job well done. And yes I have a major problem with people that think they are welcome here anytime they feel it is to there convenience. Or when they think I ( WE ) owe them something. Or maybe I will have a baby today, I here dumb Americans will pay for your hospitalization and educate your chow as long as you can get 10 mile passed the border. I am tired of it and I know many more feel the same. I work hard for what little I make and I da-- sure dont wont to give it away to someone from another country. If they like my country so much why dont they work like the rest of us and maybe there country could be better than ours, At this point in time it wouldnt take much to be better than what we have turned into.

I am a uneducated redneck that did not graduate high school ran heavy equip for 25 years at 15.00 hr paid child support for 17 years at the tune of 390.00 for one and paid a mobile home off, when I decided to open my own shop and have a peace of the american pie. I now own 25 acers on a major Hwy in central Tx and just built a new 1100 square ft. home. Been paying property taxes 33 years out of my 50 years being here and I be da-- if I am going to give my money away to a pants on the ground, hat on sideways, mouth full of gold, fool that thinks I owe him something. Just because I might have a little something. OH I dont own anything I rent it from the f----- GOVT. Sorry about that I needed to vent that.

Please meet Dr Starner Jones from Jackson , Mississippi . [see photo below].

His short 2-paragraph letter to the White House accurately puts the blame on a "Culture Crisis" instead of a "Health Care Crisis". Its worth a quick read:

  Starner Jones,   MD
I am a seventh  generation Mississippian and wanted to come back  here after going somewhere else for college and medical  school.. My extracurricular interests are golf, hunting,  fishing and college football.

Dear  Sirs:

"During my last  night's shift in the ER, I had the pleasure of  evaluating a patient with an expensive shiny gold tooth,  multiple elaborate expensive tattoos, a very expensive brand  of tennis shoes and a new cellular telephone equipped  with her favorite R&B tune for a ringtone.. Glancing  over the chart, one could not help noticing her  payer status: Medicaid. She smokes more  than one costly pack of cigarettes every day  and, somehow, still has money to buy beer.

And  our Congress expects  me to pay for this woman's health  care? Our  nation's health  care crisis is  not a shortage of  quality hospitals, doctors or  nurses.  It is a crisis of  culture ˜ a culture in  which it is perfectly acceptable to spend money on  vices while refusing to take  care of one's self or, heaven forbid, purchase health  insurance.  A culture that  thinks "I can do whatever  I want to because someone else will always take care of  me".  Life is really  not that hard. Most of us reap  what we  sow.  Don't you agree?
