Why not leave the peoples healthcare alone, go after cost and efficiancy, and if a person with out healthcare racks up a bill, and the rest of the tax payers front him the cash , he should pay us back by him loosing his tax refund if he has one.

Parent - - By OBEWAN (***) Date 01-22-2010 01:52
Because people who can not pay their bills have HUGE bills that can not be repaid with a tax return.  Maybe someone could repay $300 a year for 30 years.  What if they have a $350,000 cancer bill like a friend of mine had?

Except for one small problem, where are the jobs?  China, Singapore, Hong Kong?  They damn sure are not here.  That is the main problem Right-wingers they don't know who the enemy of the people is.  They, for whatever reason, protect the wealthy at all cost.  And the cost is destruction of the American people.  Its a damn shame.

What a crock of sh*t. There are jobs out there for those that WANT to work. Will it be the perfect job? Most likely not, but it pays the bills and puts food on the table. Times are for sure tough right now and I will be the first to admit it but there is work for those that are willing to get up of the couch and out from in front of the video games, but those are also the ones quite content with living off of others hard worked for tax dollars and sucking the system dry.

These blood suckers are the ones that scream the loudest about taxing someone who has worked hard for what they have and have had the sense to manage their finances well enough to be considered "rich".

"Whaaa!! He has a job and makes a good living! Tax him more so I can stay home on my lazy ass and not work for my living!"

So there is no reason to tax at a higher rate someone that has several homes, millions in banks, millions in stocks, makes $10 million/year salary and gets a $10 million dollar bonus.  While at the same time the pee ons of the company get to pay higher insurance premiums, receive minimal raises and are the first in line to get their walking papers with nothing to fall back on.  Those same millionaires are the ones relocating their factories overseas to save money and to increase profit by cheaper labor.

That makes a hell of a lot of sense.  And those are the ones that are being protected by the right wing?  I guess everyone on this forum are fu*king millionaires but me.

Perhaps you have heard this excerpt from the French Revolution:
Crowd:  Their is no money for bread. What will we eat?
Marie Antoinette:  Let them eat cake!

That cu*t got what was coming to her.

Not when that tax money goes to support lazy shiftless people that dont/won't work because they can get a free ride on those tax dollars as well as the illegal immigrants that are milking the system dry.

IMHO cake is too good for them, I say let them eat sh*t.

Off your ass and on your feet, if you don't work you DON'T EAT. Pretty simple.

IMHO the only free ride those type deserve is a ride to the employment office or to the border.

Yes.. Yes   YES!

Dave has said it perfectly!

This is my view of education in U.S. as well...   No more new money... Just cut the fat and spend wisely.

"The wealthiest 1 percent of the population earn 19 percent of the income but pay 37 percent of the income tax. The top 10 percent pay 68 percent of the tab. Meanwhile, the bottom 50 percent—those below the median income level—now earn 13 percent of the income but pay just 3 percent of the taxes. These are proportions of the income tax alone and don’t include payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare."

Do the math, the lowest 50% pay 3% of the taxes, so that means the wealthyest 50% of the people pay 97% of the taxes.

Spoken like the basic democrat voter...   Somebody who expects others to pay more than they do so that they can recieve benefits without investing much themselves.

You want more of somebody elses money for yourself...

Hold that up to the mirror and read between the lines my good man.
Parent - - By BryonLewis (****) Date 01-24-2010 16:55
I don't receive money from anyone.  I believe that if a prick has millions in the bank and continues to receive millions more a year (all of which comes from others labor) then that son of a ***** can and should pay MORE.  If another million is taken in tax, it won't be missed.  If that million will allow for less taxes taken from someone that actually works to build wealth for the rich, to keep an extra $20 or $30 dollars a week, then so be it.  $30 to someone living paycheck to paycheck of $400/week would help greatly, especially with rising insurance costs, less of which is being paid by the employer.

Taking extra taxes on the rich as well as cutting spending from non-Domestic and non-Social programs are the key to getting the country back from the brink.  But as long as people (ie Right wingers) choose to support those that hold their chains, then America is done.  Period.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

If a man needs a job, make one available...instead of allowing escalating imports from China, thanks to Capitalism.
If a man has way too much money then they have the ability to pay more tax and, unfortunatly not effect their high quality of life.

Bryon,
You know, I was going to suggest that you take a minute and edit your post, but instead I am just going to hand you your ass.

The "pricks" that have millions do pay more in taxes.

Those taxes do not benefit the working man with an extra $20 to $30 dollars a week, it benefits the f*ckers that DON'T WORK! You know, the ones that want MORE for doing NOTHING.

"If a man needs a job, make one available..." There is a job here in Claremore OK that you are qualified for and I WILL LET YOU HAVE IT!!! Come on down and I will ace you in, but you will need to show up every day and do what you are required to do. The pay is not bad and the benefits are better than I have experienced in quite some time. I am willing to do this because I know that I can find another job, probably before you could put in a full week.

"they have the ability to pay more tax and, UNFORTUNATELY not effect their high quality of life"

That statement sounds as if you feel that the successful people should be punished for their success. Typical of those that feel they deserve MORE for doing NOTHING. Sorry punks crying "Give me more for doing nothing!" "I want to sit at the house and squash my nuts on the couch and cry about those that get out there and make things happen." "I deserve a free ride!"

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need."  You should be paying more taxes than I do because you have the ability (that you are not utilizing) and by your own admission, do not need any help from anyone. LOL Lets raise your taxes and lower mine, how does that sound? Not so good?

Bryon, you are going to lose your cert if you do not get busy my friend. You only have to utilize it for ONE year out of three. Personally I don't think you are going to make it, even if you were to take me up on my offer, which I know you will not. Let the excuses roll. :-)

Bryon says:

"I believe that if a prick has millions in the bank...."

So you hate anybody who is succsessful...  If they have big money they are pricks?

You were trained to think this way....

Trained by the likes of Jon Stewart and the Air America folks..   Of course they have the money and they depend of folks such as yourself to keep thier gig going.

I bet you deeply believe you pay your fair share too.....  How is it that you get to judge that others who already pay a share at least twice the percentage of yours, should pay even more?

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."

This statement means that your years of experience mean nothing... forget about that red truck, fishing boat, flatscreen, property for your house....  You don't need these things...

"If a man needs a job, make one available..."

Jobs are available... and there are many folks who refuse to accept unemployment and work flippin burgers or baggin groceries because they would rather work and not make ends meet than sit and collect a check... Thats just how some men are.

Trust me.. If your "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."  doctrine was a reality, you would be sent notice to go pick grapes, or dig in a pit, or flip a burger by your government rather than collect unemployment... If you really believe in that system than save them the postage and go get that work,,, its sure out there.

  Very good point!

"Trust me.. If your "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."  doctrine was a reality, you would be sent notice to go pick grapes, or dig in a pit, or flip a burger by your government rather than collect unemployment..."

How scary is being told what you will be doing for a living rather than choosing what you will do for a living?

That is what we will end up with if we keep supporting the ones who don't/will not work with our hard earned money.

You obviously have not read the news lately or done the math.

It is a nice "platitude" to tell people to "just flip burgers" during a layoff.  Well right now today, there are 35 people in line who want every single burger flipping job.  That means that 34 people walk away with no job.  There are 200 in line for every higher paying job.

Furthermore, if a person is at work all week flipping burgers, how are they going to be able to interview for other jobs that might actually provide a living and actually pay the bills?  If they are a no show at work because they have an interview for a real job, they will probably just get fired.

And you don't understand how unemployment works.  It is NOT a “tax” that YOU pay to support others.  It is an INSURANCE policy that you EARN based upon time worked and earnings.  Employers pay 4% of gross income into the fund.

Bravo, bravo, bravo.  One of the most excellent posts of all time.  Finally someone, besides myself, that has some sense.
Overqualification is a definate drawback when looking for a "lesser" job.  I've done several phone interviews where they had asked me about any posibility of me getting a job in my former profession.  Although I adament said, "I would seriously doubt it."  I was still shot down.

I'm sure there will be a backlash from the Irrational Right.  Good luck on you job hunt.
I have been thinking about officially joining the Republican party, they all seem to have all the answers and all the money too.  That way I won't have to work anymore, I can just sit around and shoot guns all day and bi*tch about everyone that doesn't have a job.  That's the life!!!

I will finish this up with a quote from George Lopez:  "If an illegal immigrant takes your job, then you must have had a f*cked up job!"
Shameless plug:  "Check out George's new comedy album, Tall, Dark and Chicano".  It will give you more reasons to hate latinos.

OBEWAN,

As politely as possible.. It's not all about you.

I said *some* folks prefer to operate that way (working for less than than need rather than collecting unemployment insurance)   Thats just how they are... And it sounds like that is how you would prefer to be as well.

I diddn't tell anybody to do anything... Simply stated that some folks do things another way.

Unemployment is very high (near 20%) in my region...  I see folks every day still getting jobs.  Not all of them to be sure.  Some folks will need to move to where the jobs are.

In our profession there are still THOUSANDS of jobs available if people are willing to go where the work is and accept the wages offered..   It may not be enough money for some... but it will be enough money for others to accept.  How much is enough is determined by the workers themselves. It's a choice.

I do understand unemployment insurance...  Some people are still loath to collect it. Even though they have payed into it for decades and have never drawn a dime... It's a choice you know.   Again..  Some folks would prefer to work for less than their unemployment insurance will provide rather than collect it..

As far as being overqualified....  You make a great point... And I admit to not thinking about that when I made my post.  Not much you can do about that other than maybe making a special resume that leaves out some of the more high level things... Sins of omission?

I would hire you in a New York minute!

When this rough season is over you are going to make somebody (and hopefully yourself) alot of money.
Parent - - By bozaktwo1 (***) Date 01-25-2010 18:08
Being overqualified is simply a catalyst for more creative resume' writing and job interviewing.  Of course, not everyone can swing it.  I think the theme of this thread is clear: if you want to work, then you will find work.  To follow the path suggested by Bryon is to concede to communism.  Or, for you trekkies, to be a part of the collective.  Have fun with that.  I would rather that I keep what little I earn, and if someone earns a lot more then so be it.  It was that "prick's" initiative, creativity, resolve and determination that earned him all that cash.  Who am I to say take it all away and share it with others?

Sorry Bryon, I know this is a late reply to your post but I have been busy working at my job where I make money to support my family and pay my taxes. I know a man who raised his family on a farm/ranch, this was the same property that had been in his family for many years. He provided jobs for his children and their families who all lived very comfortably. He provided jobs for many of the local kids in the valley including me and my cousins. This man served in the local Government. I voted for him on more than one occasion and would do so again if he was running. He is a hard working country man that has worked hard for every penny he has ever earned. This man sold his farm/ranch for several millions a few years back. He and his wife are now retired living in a small Az town close to me and enjoying life. They lived the American Dream and still are.

So if I understand you right you would have this man give away his hard earned money to you because you are having a rough time at this point in your life? Your fellow Democrat does not deserve the money he earned? I'll bet he will gladly let you earn as much of his money as you want! He has a huge pile of leaves that need to be raked up and the grass always grows in Sunny Az... I have his # if you want it.

Tom Colbert, former Montezuma County Commissioner, Colorado. I suggest you look at what a true Democrat has done for his community and family. What am I thinking... You are not a rational person and will have some stupid idea or response to this reply anyway. Really all I wanted to do was rub it in that I have a job and you don't. LOL!!!

I've been into Socialist ideology since I was in High School 20 plus years ago.  Its not a new whim of mine.  I have 2 cars, a roof over my head in the suburbs and food on the table.  Two of my 3 kids are on swim teams which are not cheap by any means.  Because I don't have a job per se, doesn't mean that I'm broke.
It seems that many here think that I want a special tax taken from everyone in this country with a job and given directly to me.  If your idol made millions, then I assume that he paid tax on all that he made that fine.  I don't know of this guy or his financial situation but if he was in the higher tax bracket then a little higher wouldn't hurt.

Once again, progress is for everyone. You see what happens in corporate America, or maybe you don't.

What difference will it make to the average US employed person or even un-employed person?
The press keep on about it, but no mention of the changes!
