Is anyone familiar with problems with P91 piping material which cannot be properly welded using orbital welding technique as a result of residual magnetism in the pipie material itself. Apparently the residual magnetism resulta in poor quality welds?

Sinbad, I am unfamiliar with the problem you describe. It sounds to me like an isolated situation, not a general problem. If arc blow causes you to be unable to use an orbital machine, it should also cause you problems with conventional GTAW.

I would suggest you check it out and if it is a problem, try to remove/reduce the magnetism using an MT yoke, set on AC.

I completely agree with Chall on this one...
Just curious, what brand of equipment are you using?
Also, why did'nt the equipment manufacturer recommend this to you?
Or the welding engineer for that matter?
I believe there is a term used for this... It's called Degaussing...
