Hi everyone, I have a major doubt on this; my piping supervisor wants to hot bend a P8 in order to get it back from missing the CL. I mean, due to the welding of a weld-o-let, it has a distortion in the main pipe and they want to apply like 400 °C max. to correct the deviation. Is it ok to perform this kind of heat treatment to a P8 to correct this kind of distortion? Please, can anyone quote a para. of ASME B31.3 to get the right idea?
Many thanks!!!
Hi Guy,
If you r very much keen on doing hot froming of SA312 SS pipe at 400 degC, Take care of senistization ( fromation of chromium carbidesCr23C6 on GB) which will render ur material useless for service.
If u r still intersested to go ahead, you should do solution annealing at 1050-1080 degC for required soaking time defined your pipe thickness after forming.
Tks & Rgds,
