As I've said in the past I am new to rig welding and have taken a couple different tests... but my question now is what rod is normally used on a branch test 5p,70++ ....etc the tests I have taken have been 5p root and hot pass and 7010 or 70+ fill and cap is this normal? Cause I have also heard of 7010 or 70+ all the way to?

Just a 5p bead or 5p bead and hot?

just bead. all the procedures ive ever seen have called for 5p bead 70+ hot pass fill n cap.

Yep, 5P+ bead and 70+ or 8P+ hp, fill & cap. The 8P+ is starting to replace the 70+ but they're still having some problems with bug-holes in it so they still keep 70+ on hand usually.

You used hyp+ to bead with?

You can use HYP+ to bead with. It runs realy good and I like it just as much as 5P+.

That's a new one on me, I'm going to have to try it.
