They look like a nice product! If anyone is using them I'd like to know what you think of them?

I bought a set off ebay.  You get what you pay for....  The ball bearings always arc out so you constantly have to lube them up, making a mess all over the back of the truck.  And the tention bolts always tighten up when you real them in.  But there still working.

I bought a set from Kaye about two years ago. They are working GREAT. I have had NO PROBLEM out of them Ialso have an Electric cord reel made by the same people. No problems from it either.

I got a set I bought from Kaye also. I have never had any problem with them either. Good buy for the money.

Every time I see this type of reel I wonder if anyone ever gets zapped from them. Does this ever happen with these trailer bearing type reels?
Parent - - By factionfab (**) Date 03-13-2010 17:11
I got zapped a few times but have learned my lesson but every time i have a helper roll up my leads or plug a extention cord in they get zapped.  Its awsome to watch

I have used mine in the mud and haven't been "zapped". I don't see what difference a reel is going to make, if it's wet enough to zap you, your gonna get it regardless.

I AGREE !!! ANY Reels, No matter what the brand or price will bite you if they are hot all the time. If you connect the two with a conductive material, (your sweaty arm) They will bite you.

On the reels I have the spool isnt hot, only the lug you bolt your lead to is. so you would have to touch both 1/2" studs at the same time.

Are the reels plastic ? What brand are they ?

Same with mine. Hot lead, cold reel.  But, way more expensive than the ones under discussion.

He builds stackers , but i ordered mine seperate , has different styles on spools  tribal , flames , bout anything you can dream up , well designed , well insulated , tenison setting works great i had the maltese cross double cut in mine , only thing is i wish he could powder coat them paint was thin.

I have Alumareels, and they have been real good.

Looks like you have a Tidwell cord reel? How do you like it?

I really like the cord reel. I also got the locking plug with it. It works like an air fitting. I called Tidwell and asked him if he could mount it off a tee instead of a 90-he did. Very nice guy to deal with. If you order one it may take a while to get, I think he makes them to order.
