I turned in my taxes today. I talked to my accountant about 2010 and what I can do. The advise he gave me was to maximize my income this year and to do as much securities selling this year and hunker down.
My SO and I need about 48K a year to live the lifestyle we have. And I need about 10K  for cigs and cokes. So starting in 2011 I am limiting my income to 58 to 60K a year. With deductions that puts us at roughly 45K of taxable income a year.
Which is about what I will pay in taxes this year. So instead of producing enough economic activity to generate 45K in taxes, I will pay less than 10K. So just little ole me is taking away 35K from the beast. No more 60-70 hour weeks for me. At 53, which I should be in the most productive years of my life, I am cutting way back.
I have saved enough to be comfortable if the country stays together, but I am going to play the game the moochers want. They want to tax the rich, go ahead. They do not pay taxes anyway.
Hopefully by the time I check out the check to the undertaker bounces, and he and the gov are farked.

I, unlike most here, am elated by the recent bill passage.  I have no problem with anyone's opinions although I deem that my opinions are much more valid and realistic than most other people.

Collect for 10 years but only supply rationed health services for 6 years just to show a profit does what exactly?  All of the current elected officials need to go, hell most of them voted for all of GW's spending also.  Where the hell are the jobs???  What makes you think "O" wants the USA to go back to work before his posse get all of the working , taxpaying productive people on the same playing field as the free sector??  I guess its ok to get 17 million votes as its cheaper to wreck the country than to come up with another $1 Billion for >O<'s next try at the White House.

What sends jobs overseas is J6P demanding cheap crap from Walmart. It takes profit to stay in business and make payroll plus keep the moochers fed and fat. The retailers are only supplying what the consumer wants.
And as for who allowed them to do it, the prostitutes in Washington and the fools that elects.

NO NO NO do not keep circulating this!!!!! If you’re not going to do anything but Belly ache why bother. If you’re so up set with things, do something to change it.....like elect another politician or create a need for more red tape.

The biggest problem as I see it, is all the b%$#@ing & Belly aching from so many people and some dumb hapless politician trying to appease what appears to be the majority until he/she makes a move just find out they are not;  at least for the moment. Then it rapidly dawns on them “there is no way in hell we can appease every one” so we may as well appease ourselves while we got the chance.

Look where we are now folks… Our elected officials acting like street thugs standing on the corner shouting obscenities at people trying to do there elected jobs. These….people represent us… chosen by us in a democratic election.

In case you’re not aware of it our Government is not an entity in its self, but instead of bunch of foul able humans that when not acting in their own interest (as humans are prone to do) they are trying to comply with their constituents (that’s you & me). With that in mind: How do you suppose things got so screwed up?

We should change the name of this area from OTB&G the Wailing & *****ing corner or something. Good grieve; this constant whining gets old. Yea I know I don’t have to read it, but I do and I have bit my tongue for a long time hoping for some daylight.

I want very much to believe that people who contribute here are better than that and have enough good sense to gather reliable information to make intelligent conversation, not fall prey to HIVE mentality or Mob activities.

Probably should have learned to keep my fat trap shut long ago but sometimes I just can't resist...

First, I LOVED Bill Clinton and will not apologize or be pursuaded from these feelings, think he was among the best presidents of all time... yes, he lied and he did spill a lot of gene cells where they didn't belong but I'd bet my life that's not limited to democratic presidents... he just got busted and bad for him, he lied.  That said, I probably would have too if my wife would have been staring me in the eye in front of xxx million people.

I wasn't in the states for the election but admit I probably would have voted for Obama.  He has taken us to record deficits faster than anyone could have expected.  Maybe some of it was necessary to save certain aspects of American credibilty, I'm not smart enough to even venture a guess to this regard.

My problem is one more fundamental and although I don't blame GW for starting the war in Iraq, all these years later I'm still wondering what will benefit from it, and at what cost?  Does anyone have a clue what this war has costs yet, in terms of dollar amount, not human sacrifice?

Money should (and MUST) be spent on and for the USA and by that I mean our homefront, not so much overseas.  So, thats my take on it, I have no idea or even care about this health bill since I've since expatriated.... which was a great idea. :)

Jon, I agree with every word you wrote except the “He lied”. You have to remember he has a law degree.

The Us Attorneys set up ground rules in their investigation that allowed him to answer “No” to crucial questions by defining what is or what is not the definition of having sex. It was more of a game of semantics than anything else. That is the “Stock & Trade” of lawyers.

As for the much-maligned Obama, I really do not see what if anything else he could have done. Darn could you imagine what would have happened if we let all of our financial institutions go under? Our Heavy industry (what there is left of it)? The rest of the world would have divided us up like a bunch of hungry Wolves tearing at a carcass.

Things really are screwed up but it’s only because of past regimes doing every thing they could to keep the voting public happy they were like some irresponsible parents yielding to the kids desires rather than their needs.

Hell the kids are eating at Mickey D’s every night, their happy we are ecstatic but the little ba$^%ds are getting so fat and lazy they don’t even wipe their A$$’s any more and now all the sudden their in the hospital with all sorts of maladies and the darn Hospital bill is going to bankrupt us.

We (the economy & citizens) of the US are just like that…spoiled brats and now we are very sick from over indulgence and its time to pay the Fiddler.

Sorry for being so long winded but I just wanted to point out my estimation of how some things come about.

The majority of voices we hear every day in issues like this discussion are younger than myself.

My self has seen many things in years gone by some good some not so good and some really bad. A lot of them were handled/defeated and soon forgotten.

Then we failed to make constant reminders of what it was like before and the next generation is not fearful of any of those issues as much as if we failed to instill (educate) fear of the Wolves and Bears that lurk beyond are fences we mostly just say stay away from the woods because evil lurks out there. How many kids do you know that obey words like that?

Say what you want and blame who ever you please, but just what a lot of folks are doing right now is the primary reason for the reason.

We are standing on our own lives and doing every thing we can to jerk it out from under our selves. We may well defeat our selves eventually.

Had tucked his tail between his legs (what he should have done with something else) and run, I would have a lot less respect for him but he fought back as best he could and I will give him that and choose him over anyone that would roll over and play dead.
