I need to run a circuit in my shop to run a 300 amp inverter. It will be 220V 1 phase and about 25ft away from the panel. What gauge wire should I use, and should it be stranded or solid wire.

How many amps does it draw ? [look on the spec plate, or in the manual] If the machine will be moved at all, use fine stranded wire, if stationary, You can use solid or coarse stranded depending on the wire size.

There should be a wire size chart in the manual, if You have it.

73 I think. That is wide open but it will never come close to that. It will be stationary.

I think You are in the #4 wire range, but check the manual.
