If an inspector has a Naarso level 1 cert, is that the same, better or less than a CWI, ASNT or CWB?
An inspector with a Naarso level 1 has been inspecting a theatrical building for the past several years. My company is in the process of developing a new welding program with a third party consultant. According to the consultant, a project begins with the engineered design, fabrication and then inspection. With the inspector holding one of the three certs. (CWI, ASNT or CWB).
Does this mean that the inspector we have been using is not properly certified to complete the work legally or based on the consultant requirements?
Legal or not, it will not be recognized by the new program that is being developed.

Naarso is for amusement rides. It has nothing to do with welding inspection. Level one naarso is a basic inspector certification for amusement ride safety. It covers fencing, basic electrical, basic mechanics, and the ASTM standards concerning amusement rides.
