Anyone heard back from the ASNT on the program.

I sent application in, but have heard nothing as of yet. It's been about 5 weeks. I'm sure they have quite a number of applications to process.

They did take my money, though, as my credit card was posted on 10/9.
How long does it take??

Any info greatly appreciated.

Good Luck

John / Brande,

I got mine in the mail yesterday ( Monday, 11/10 ) and I sent it in the paperwork the second week of September.

Mine was sent off right at the deadline, the usual SOP around here.

Mine was sent 9/24. Received card and certificate 10/20. Very smooth.

Sent mine 9/26 and haven't heard a thing yet but am not real worried about it. By the way, I once posed the question "what value will the SNT-TC-1a VT have to our business. In my own case (nuclear industry) it is necessary to have an SNT VT for doing inspections of ASME Section III, Subsection NF (pipe supports) but that is the only Code I am personally familiar with that requires a SNT Cert for VT. Am very interested to hear from others out there as to the value this VT cert will bring. Don't get take my comments the wrong way, I am all for centralizing certifications!

I'm not sure of the benefit in my case, but I figured since they were offering, I'd bite. Maybe before renewal, I'll be able to weigh out the benefits and make up my mind whether it's worth keeping current or not.

Same with me. Figured it could not hurt too much to have it so I bit also. Called this week and said I could expect paperwork mailed in December. Not promising for the future!

I didn't bite. In all the time I've spent in QA/QC, I have never had a project that required an ASNT VT certification. If I ever need it, I figure the studying and testing will be a good refresher.

However, I'd rather see the ASNT rules state a CWI as equal to the VT Level 2 without requiring another wallet card to prove it. Seems like that could be done without collecting $150 from everyone. ('Course, I realize funding has to come from somewhere.)

Hi Chet,
The VT Level II also required an additional, more stringent, eye exam(J1), than the CWI required (J2).

Thay needed a more information from me. Like a drivers license. So that makes me think everything is in the works. I'll be getting mine in Level II RT.

Mine came and was waiting in the mailbox when I got home yesterday. Everything was included as they said.
