Seems like someone missfigured the possible weight of concrete filling 180 foot of line. You would think there would be some more redundancy (ie. dumb *ss operators) build into that machine.
It's hard to tell from the perspective, but I think the center section is still 4-5 ft. off the floor-level of the excavation, judging by the column rebar showing underneath. This happened about 1:30 a.m. , several hours before daylight.
Ok I don’t know too much about these trucks but I thought that they were designed to be able to pump concrete with the boom sticking straight out like it is in the picture It looks like he had already pumped some concrete so it was working for awhile? The truck looks like it has a 5 section boom and there is two sections look like they are laying on the ground. this just looks strange to me
Still no official news of the cause, but it could have been simple miscalculation of the weight of the concrete in the extended boom, or miscalculation of outrigger extension. Either could have caused a slow lifting of the truck as soon as enough concrete was pumped out.
I saw one almost go over when the ground sunk about 8in... The timbers they had under the outriggers cracked and that pump truck started rocking.. It was a little scary... It didn't go over though... I saw the same thing happen with a 60 ton crane too...!!!
