You can TIG off a 200.It will last more 2000 hrs. too.

last time i used the machine was around 11 months ago. welded bout 4 hrs shut down for lunch and it wouldnt crank back up. found blown fuse(30 amp) right by starter was blown and when i replaced it the new one popped as soon as i snapped it in. a friend put his multimeter on it and said it was ''going straight to ground'' and as im no electrician brought it to lws and the mechanic told me the wiring going to stator was corroded and that caused it to short and sling all the magnets :/ he also said it was locked up and appeared to have been around saltwater and he may be right as i bought it used from a contractor. he told me 800.00 parts and labor to get the kohler going and he hasnt even opened the generator side yet so im thinking punt?!

Like russel said you can tig with a 200 just doesn't have ac for aluminum     I mean you can also tig with other machines such as a 300d

Even though the 250 is an air cooled machine,it should last a lot longer than 2014 hours with the proper care. If you have questions about it,there is an expert on welder repair who can answer any questions you may have. He`s on the Miller welding discussion forum, his forum name is cruzier and he works on and is an expert on both Miller and Lincoln machines. Just hate to see any machine with such low hours die on a person.

Your right there about the hours. Used a hobart 225 or something from a rental company and it had 3800 ours or so on it. Ran good, welded good and used it for 3 months, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. Thought for sure one day it was gonna take a dump, never did.

Speaking of taking good care of your welder, I have been running Amsoil in my Lincoln and my Miller 225. What I like about it is you can run it a lot longer than dino oil. And it stays cleaner a lot longer. I have 120 hr on my sa200 and fixing to send in oil sample to see when I need to change oil.

i agree the only bad thing is i got it used from a contractor with about 1700 hrs. i'm pretty meticulous about oil and filter changes but i don't know how well he took care of it.

You said it right there, used from a contractor. I got my ranger from United Rentals.....I worked for them so I know they did excellent maintenance on their equipment, at least at our shop. If it was abused before you got it the damage could have already been done for sure.
