We have plenty of hot rod to handle, Joe.... ;-)
I got your so cal weather RIGHT HERE
Use motor oil. Any weight will work just fine. Make sure you use the same motor oil when you calibrate your machine. Just remember, it is not going to dry and evaporate like water based couplants, so you will have to wipe it down and remove it with a solvent if there is any danger of someone slipping if they step on it. For an H-pile, wipe it off the best you can and then rub the area with some dirt.

I've heard that honey is used in Alaska, watch out for bears, though.
Well I am at the other extreme so I second the use of motor oil or grease. I have used it on Cryogenic piping as well as surfaces at high temps. I use CitrusSolve to clean it up, works good and keeps the Environmental Dpt off me. Calibration with it is a must in my experience.
thanks guys ill try some 10/20 lol. i was reading up on UT and found a section in the krautkramer owners manual that
low temp would affect UT readings and that adjustments needed to be made according to a chart. I can't find the chart lol
is this an aws chart? anybody know where to find it thanks Joe
Joe I can probably get it. I will look tomorrow it's in my work puter somewhere. Only used it once and don't expect to ever need it again here in sunny arizona!
For the winter outage work we used to add 2-3 gallons of anti-freeze to a 50 gallon couplant barrel.
