Looking for advice on the qualification of fully programmed robotic welding equipment operators making fillet and flare bevel groove welds on steel. These operators do not adjust welding parameters. They only feed and clean up after the robot.
Applicable codes would be AWS D1.3, D14.3 and or B2.1.

Should there be separate weld tests performed, other than manual tests?
If so, do the same test plates and criteria apply?
Does the guy doing the actual programming, only, need to run test plates?

Thanks,
Tim

I believe AWS has a standard for robotic performance qualification.
As for feeeding and cleaning up after the robot some cultures call them wives.
Sorry. Couldn't resist.

Would that be D1.010101?

No it's D16.4

Clever there Skaggy.  Not sure a lot of the younger guys will catch it though.  Not many people understand the old concept of binary code.

Have a Great Day,  Brent
