Ok,
I'm writing my first pre-qualified GMAW and FCAW WPS for sheet steel of 10ga through 14 gauge sheet steel to be welded to structural steel over 1/8" thick.
The "Technique" section of the WPS form asks for "Melting Rate" and "Wire Feed Speed". Maybe I'm missing something here but aren't those basically both the same thing?
I even looked up the definitions in A3.0 and they are worded slightly different but are similar.
A3.0 Wire Feed Speed-The rate at which wire is consumed in arc cutting, thermal spraying, or welding. (We use IPM)
A3.0- The weight or length of electrode, wire, rod, or powder melted in a unit of time. (length in minutes=IPM)
Any thoughts?
