Well the other 2 came up with my suggestions.
Dive shops sell an anti-fogging fluid (mine is pink colored) that works, sorta for scuba masks. You have to keep applying fairly regularly.  I've also used a small fold up hairdryer about the size of your fist, for hoods and face shields. Great for thawing out fingers and toes in the winter also.

When I swam in high school, yeah, I was a swimmer. At times my goggles would fog up, we'd spit in them and rub it around with your finger then rinse in the pool before the race. Not sure if you want to spit on your hood then dip it in a swimming pool though!!

Anti-fog solutions work well but you have to reapply frequently.
How it works - Condensation still forms but now is a thin sheet that you can see through instead of fine droplets that block vision.  As the sheeting action forms and drains it removes the anti-fog from the lens and now you have to reapply.

I weld outside at home in the Canadian winter sometimes.  My Miller Elite doesn't fog as bad as my Fibermetal pipeliner.  Maybe some other shapes/designs are better than others?

EDIT -- Nothing works on frost.  If frost is your problem then you have very few options like holding your breath.

big lens hoods are great for seeing in out of position welding, but they suck because they fog up. That is why I run a 2x4 lens. Use anti-fog cleaning solution but the big lens will still fog up not much u can doo about it .

There is a Box on the Floor of my Utility room that is usually full of that stuff. Would you like me to send you some ?
Parent - By hillbilly (**) Date 04-02-2011 23:45
I usually have to pay for it, so what the heck. Send it on.

I use the same stuff!  It works great!  I found it up in the mountains, people use them on their ski goggles.

Those anti fog solutions are detergent. Baby shampoo is used by divers because it doesn't burn the eyes when some of the residue gets in them.

get a pancake hood
Parent - By Pickupman (***) Date 04-07-2011 22:44
I went to pipeliner because my pancake fogs up.

ok im going to sound retarded but im not sure what a pancake hood is. i have managed to solve the fog problem, set it next to a high intensity light for around 10 minutes every so often, warms the lense and no fog.

go to the "Lets see those pipeline pics" thread and page down until you see a picture and say to yourself "WTF is that on his head".  That's a pancake hood.

I never tried one, but the guys who use 'em wouldn't have anything else.

When I was living in Alaska I used to keep a small hair dryer in my bucket in winter. I got a lot of smartass comments till they tried it.
