why CO2 laser welding have low energy transfer efficiency compared to other fusion welding when welding aluminum alloy?

It has to do with the reflection of the laser light.  Aluminum has more reflection than other alloys.  The metal vapor in the cloud above the weld puddle reflects part of the beam energy back away from the weld.  Also the weld puddle is more reflective than other metals.  Aluminum is the most like a mirror in terms of reflecting laser light.  It takes more energy to make a laser weld because of this.  If you are in the USA there are several good books on laser welding available through inter library loan from your local library.  Use the Internet to search if you want to learn more.

Please stop your spamming in here!!! This is not an attorney advertising site - it's a welding forum used by people who are actually involved in welding as opposed to someone who pretends to be by using the internet to give pathetic answers to some of the queries posted in here!!!:mad::yell::eek:

When these pop up, hit the 'Report' button as well and let the mods know what you think.

Your welcome John.  Makes more work for the mods, but this guy is getting annoying.

Have a Great Day,  Brent

Yup it would be easier for me to just ban him, but I don't have the banning powers, so I delete 5 or 6 spam posts from this guy everyday...<sigh>

Guys just keep reporting him, it sure helps me find this crap and delete it when there are reports with flags.....thanks for your help.
