Mine is motorcycles.  My 52 yr young, wife, and I (61 yrs old) love to ride our motorcycles every chance we get.

She rides a 2001 Yamaha 650 VStar Classic and I ride a 2008 Ultra Electraglide and tow a Cyclemate trailer.  We enjoy camping and going on 2 or 3 bike runs a year in the beautiful, diverse state of Oregon.

Located in Eugene/Springfield area, we are only 60 miles to the rugged Oregon coast and to the east we can be climbing the snow capped 5000' mountains in less than an hour.  Further east we ride endless stretches of high desert country.

Will be taking July 15th & 18th off from work to attend a bike run just outside Fort Rock, Oregon called the Summer Eruption.  A 3 day campout with 700 other bikers in the middle of the desert.  Good food, lotsa beer, bike games, music & dancing at night, poker run, etc.. with all the proceeds going to help needy children of central Oregon.

We like to call our bikes "two wheeled therapist" as all our burdens & concerns melt away along the backroads.

Lived in Daytona Beach, FL from 64 to 70 so I was accustomed to large bike events throughout the year.  Never had the desire to hit Sturgis but with some prodding from friends looks like I, at age 62, will make the trip in 2012.

Any suggestions on nearby towns to stay?
Parent - By 52757 (**) Date 06-29-2011 18:22
Robert, if by towns you mean to get a motel room or something on that order start now because they are booked full forever. Price is crazy. Better  off at a campground. Buffal Chips is a MUST. Can also camp there. Coming from the Northwest means you will have a great ride. Party at the Irma Bar in Cody.

We run a ranch in NE Wyoming. On this little spread we are able to run just enough cows to stay broke. To insure us of a life of poverty and a room in the poorhouse when we get old, I have my passion of raising fast horses. Im just getting started in this little venture and hope to have one on the track before long. After their track career is over they will go for arena prospects, most likely becoming barrel racing horses.

You hit my other passion right on target!

I carry 24/7 a Springfield XD 9mm subcompact in a Serpa retention holster.  Have a resident Oregon concealed handgun license and a Utah non-resident concealed firearm permit which enables me to CC in 30+ states.

With my brother-in-law, I shoot approx 250 rnds (mega box) each weekend from my library of 26 handguns.

Btw, I see you are from TX.  I received my bachelor of science degree in photography major with journalism minor from Sam Houston State Univ, Huntsville, TX in '74.  Worked for a couple of major advertising companys out of Atlanta, then got back into constuction and here I be a QA Manager at a pressure vessel fabricaton facility.

It still bewilders me that TX is not an open carry state like Oregon.

Gun control is hitting your target,
QCRobert

I must confess that ever since my Father gave me a "Scientific American" Science & Chemistry kit, I just fell in love with exploding stuff...
Imploding stuff is fun too yet, it also can be potentially very dangerous to say the least.:evil::lol::wink::twisted::cool:

Wicked Thoughts... Hmmm...:eek::roll::wink::cool:

Respectfully,
Henry

Being on the coast fishing and watching the life all around the salt water..

I see something cool every time I go whether it be watching the crabs scooting around, birds fishing, jelly fish bobbing away, dolphins chasing bait fish, or something new or funny on every trip..!!

When the wildlife watching gets slow, watching the people can be quite fun too..!! The beach seems to draw some of the ugliest and some of the prettiest people I have ever seen..!! LOL...!!!

This coming weekend is one of my fovorites as I'm a hobbyist pyrotechnician. In other words, I make my own fireworks from scratch.
I just get a kick out of watching things blow up...
This weekend I'm working on a batch of 3" mortar shells.
Should be fun!

Parent - By weldwade (***) Date 07-05-2011 21:06
I'm the one behind the camera. Those two guys are two of the maintenance supervisors who work for me. It was just like at work, I supplied the bait made them do the fishing and we all enjoyed the reward.
Parent - - By weldwade (***) Date 07-05-2011 21:19
At work today so this is the only pic I can find of me. Goes along with the OT tho, One of my passions is restoring old cars. This is my 70 Chevelle bought it when I was 15 and don't think I will ever part with it.
Parent - - By qcrobert (***) Date 07-05-2011 21:39
Nice work, Wade!
Parent - By weldwade (***) Date 07-05-2011 21:50
Thanks! Looks much different now than when I bought it. Every part of the car was dented badly. No engine or trans and the ugliest forest green you ever seen. Replaced the drivers front fender, front bumper and hood. Frame off resto with lots of aftermarket suspension parts. I have almost 40K on it now and love driving it. I'm working on a 38 Chevy truck now that my Great Grandfather bought new in 38! It's getting plenty of show and GO!!!

Bad A$$ ride Cactus! I just picked up a steel 32 for my boys and they are very excited! Nice Baja also!
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 07-06-2011 00:08
Thank You. I sold the Baja and I am looking at a Eliminator Daytona 30' or a Hustler 36' right now. I wanted a DCB or a Skater but they were a little pricey
Parent - - By weldwade (***) Date 07-06-2011 01:06
I've ridden in an Eliminator cat with twin big blocks and it was sweeeet! You looking at a mid cabin?
Parent - By ctacker (****) Date 07-06-2011 03:01
got this ride in my inbox today.
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 07-06-2011 03:46
No Cabin, It's a race model. Both of the Boats I am looking at only Seat 4. They both have a rear cover to enclose the rear seats making it a 2 seater.
Parent - - By weldwade (***) Date 07-06-2011 03:52
Sounds like a wild ride! Keep the back seat open for the hotties!
Parent - - By Cactusthewelder (*****) Date 07-06-2011 04:26
Im sure my Wife might have an opinion on that idea !
Parent - By weldwade (***) Date 07-06-2011 04:36
Yep prolly don't wanna get her angry! Not to worry though I have plenty of room on my boat for them to watch you go speeding by.
Parent - - By DaveBoyer (*****) Date 07-06-2011 05:50 Edited 07-06-2011 05:53
Back in the '80s a guy I worked with had a little outboard powerd Skater 18. He took a corner at full speed with the wife & kids aboard.

She made Him sell it right away. Another guy in the shop bought it.

Those big Skaters REALLY haul.

I remember reading an article about the Skater 32 [?] that Bill Marriot the hotell guy had. At the time there wasn't much in that league.
