P&H is looking to fill this Welding Technician Trainer position

If you know anyone who has experience with the heavy plate welding and T5 wire that would qualify for this position, please pass it on. It is important they they have excelent welding skills.

Any idea of the pay scale?  2 to 3 years experience required....for a training position?  Is 20 years experience over qualified?  Let me guess...Spanish language skills a plus:cry:?

No ... These guys build the biggest draglines in the world.   No problems with salary... *if* you are qualified.

Why not just check it out instead of making racist remarks?

Besides;  I'm sure your golden armed greatness far exceeds there needs.  There one of two players on the face of the earth who can do what they do.  But you go ahead and bash em.

No doubt an attitude exactly like yours is what they want to pay top dollar for.

I was just asking about the pay scale.

Racist?  "Spanish language a plus" is a racist comment?  Every single large welding operation out there is reqruiting low wage spanish speaking people from the tex/mex border.  As far north as Maine and even Boston area.  "Spanish speaking a plus" is frequently mentioned in job posting which usually means the pay scale is VERY low for welders.

I'm guessing the Welding/Technical Training position that requires two years experience pays around $13 to $15 an hour, tops.

Well there you go skippy... Keep guessing, criticizing, and making excuses when somebody notices.

So I was correct about the pay scale?  $13 to $15 an hour?  Too high with my estimate?

Such a bloody jerk.

Check for your self

The entry level welders usually enter around 18-20  and can work to a rate much higher.

They don't need me to defend them.. and they sure as hell don't need the likes of you.

Commonarc, Remember this is most likely a STEADY employment job. (not like your average boilermaker job) Some people actually like working the whole year round making a living instead of collecting unemployment 75% of the time !!!!!!! Seems like I remember seeing a program on TV on the history channel about this AMERICAN Co. .   Didn't you see it? Something tells me you have ALOT of spare time!!!!!:yell: GO BUCCOS !!!!!!!

When I was a kid in middle school [early '70s] We had to take French or Spanish classes " in case We wanted to work in a country that spoke those languages". Who ever thought they meant Canada and the USA?

I raised hell in class, got poor grades and learned about 10 words and a few numbers in Spanish.

I think the time is soon coming all over America, and here now in a lot of places where an instructer or a boss in any of the trades will have to know Spanish.

That would be nice if it could really be done but, when this nation first started out, there were many immigrants who didn't speak English as their first language...

They did however learn to speak it and simultaneously kept handing down their own native language, culture & heritage down to their next generations...

They were attacked also back in the day, and eventually most assimilated into the American Melting Pot and became contributing citizens of our great society.

But it didn't happen overnight then and it isn't going to happen overnight now... Why? Because it takes time for a foreign culture to assimilate to our customs just like it happened with previous cultures, and not every culture assimilates at the same rate...

Some cultures need to have someone interpret whatever it is they're trying to learn by using their native language first, then emphasizing the terminology in English again and again, until they use the term in English first, and that's the main reason why some companies as well as most educational institutions prefer having an educator with the ability of being at least bi-lingual - Capeche - Comprende???
Otherwise interpreted as Understand?:lol::wink::cool:

The ones who have been here to stay will eventually understand the importance of mastering the English language if they are to step up each rung on the ladder which determines how far one wants to get in achieving a better life for themselves and their family...

The ones that cannot grasp the concept of assimilation eventually become disgruntled and return to their native lands, and this has been happening in the United States of America as well as in Canada ever since these countries were first formed.

So don't get angry because it will eventually work itself out... If you don't agree with me well, that's okay it won't be the first time someone has!

Just please don't get hostile over my own perspective because it will show one's immaturity and inability to discuss issues in a civil, respectful and courteous manner.:wink::cool: After all, even though I do not necessarily agree with you, I will still respect your opinion so please do the same.:cool:

Respectfully,
Henry

How can I pick on the [legal] Mexicans, when My own ancesters were Pensylvania Dutch, some of whoom founded Germantown in 1683, and probably didn't learn English 'till after they had been here for 150 years or more?

I worked with a guy who started school about 1950, and there was a kid in His class who only spoke "Dutch", and the teacher did not [a lot of the other students did, however]. This kid learned English in grade school the hard way. His family had probably been in Pensylvania for 200 years.

This is the last case I heard of where this happened, but it has probably happened more recently in Lancaster county. There You will still find Mennonite & Amish folks who speak mostly "Dutch" even tho most of them know English.

My Grandmom's aunt, who was born in 1894 recalled that when She was a kid, the church service was in "Dutch" every other week, and English the weeks between.

That's an excellent example Dave.
My previous post wasn't directed towards you friend, it was directed towards the individuals who have yet to fully understand our country's own history, and cannot yet comprehend the reasoning behind hiring someone who is capable of being able to teach in both English as well as Spanish or any other language for that matter...

Anywho, I'm glad to see that you're hanging in there just like myself with our mutual war with the big "C" my friend.:cool:

Respectfully,
Henry

I knew who You were posting to, but I figured My example was worth the time to post.

The English were not happy when 85% of Pensylvania's residents spoke "Dutch". William Penn didn't like it, and He was the one who encouraged My people to come in the first place. He never invisiond the huge numbers of people who would come from that region in the following years.

Personally, I think the US Govt. should adopt English as a national language, and encourage immigrants from anywhere to learn English as soon as they can, rather than putting up road signs in multiple languages, and enabling the lack of learning. The Govt. didn't do it in the past, and may not in the future.

I am doing as well or better than can be expected with the cancer, I have been on a reduced dose of chemo due to the cumulative adverse  effects it has. I am taking an extra week between the doses in August, and have none scheduled for September for My own recovery, and so I can go to some steam & gas engine and blacksmithing events. Chemo resumes in October.
