If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Delta Airlines one year ago, you would have $49.00 today! If you purchased $1,000 of shares in AIG you would have $33.00. If you purchased $1,000 of shares in Lehman brothers, you'd have $0.00 today. But, if you purchased $1,000 worth of beer, drank all the beer, turned in the aluminum cans for recycling, you would have $214.00. Therefore the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 401-Keg Plan! Invest heavily today

Joe

This thing came in my email from a friend last week and this weekend I saw facebook go wild with it.

I tried to post this earlier but thunderstorms moved through and our network went down, so now I am home, I think it will post.

The truth is if you bought 66 cases of beer at 15$ a case
that comes to $990.00,(close enough to 1000), 66 cases X 24 cans each = 1,584. Empty 12 oz.cans weighing @.535 oz. 1,584 cans X.535=847.44 oz. divide by 16 oz to a pound=52.965 pounds and at 75ยข a pound = only $39.72.

Just saying don't believe everything sent to you on the internet. or tell me where you are getting that for alum

I try to think positive more.

Good Luck
Marshall

At a 5 cent deposit per can refund, you'd get back $79.20.
Double that, if you're in a state that has a 10 cent refund.
Still no way to get to the original number, but it's still funny.
Anyway, my broker friend told me that he saw this in 2009, and that's when the stock numbers are from.  The stock losses today are nowhere near that bad.
