Check this place out Shad, http://www.truckpaper.com/Default.aspx I've been watching here for an International and also have checked out many of the older 3/4 to 1 ton trucks for a second rig(back up rig actually). Have found several on there, Cheb's, Fords in the $$$ range your talking about.

actually, here's one in Tx, http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3004905&

Seems like prices dip below $5k around the end of page 5 or 6.

Hey Shad,
I'm going to have a 2000 dodge 3500 dually up for sale in a couple weeks. Its set up with a good bed and ready to go to work. I'm probably going to need 8500 for it though. I've got a 2004 pro 300 I'm selling as well. If you're interested ill give you the first shot at them both. The dodge has 260k on it but no engine problem and it has a five speed trans. Nothing wrong with it, I just got another one and won't get my new bed to paint for a week or two.  I know you said all you have is 4 so just toss it around.
Let me know.

CM

Good deal Shad! That's a sharp truck!
Parent - By Rafter_G_Weldin (***) Date 09-22-2011 04:44
Thanks guys it has some starting issues but I think a fuel filter will fix it if not ill go to my buddy n get it checked out feels good to have some power under the hood again
Parent - - By weldwade (***) Date 09-22-2011 03:20
That should work just fine for you Shad. Looks just like mine all but the red paint and I don't see an engine sitting in the bed like mine has... someday I might find some time to put it back under the hood where it belongs! Good for you I hope it works out for you.
Parent - - By Rafter_G_Weldin (***) Date 09-28-2011 11:40

Thanks Wade I been looking at pi s of bob king beds and wow the time I could spend making a bed that's why I usually just tub it and the call it good cuz im picky
Parent - - By rcwelding (***) Date 09-25-2011 21:59
Way to go Shad..!! Are you going to jerk the bed off and put a welding bed on it or just make a tub unit and role on..??
Parent - By Rafter_G_Weldin (***) Date 09-28-2011 10:52
Still running the other truck for now want to build a bed but as usual money is tight if I can save up 2,000 quilt i'll build 1a if not tub it n roll
Parent - By cmays (***) Date 09-20-2011 11:01

Are there trucks floating around all over down there? Thats a deal, it would bring near that here rusted full of holes. Rebuilding is so slow and painful it makes some sense to source some from another state. Cabs but complete trucks are even better especially if they run to get home. One of my Buds went to Arkansas I think recently for a Suburban, said it was worth the effort, got twice the truck for half the money for a weekends work. Ideally buy a truck and a cab where could toss in the back, drive north.
Parent - - By Sberry (***) Date 09-25-2011 20:38
I got a couple I wouldn't mind replacing, the old are still serviceable but wouldn't mind some more recent model years and condition to the point they are worth painting. I got my use out of the old ones but are not worth much investment, they old and had a hard life. I couldn't break even selling one if I had to work on them. Trucks get prettier as they get newer, at least they don't turn heads as not being current.

I get laughed at by the pipelines here with my current rig I just laugh right back and tell them mines paid for and daddy didn't buy it for me shuts them right up
Parent - - By Cumminsguy71 (*****) Date 10-04-2011 19:31
The key point is, does your current rig make you money? Besides, the pipeline guys doing the laughing can take a long walk off a short pier.
Parent - - By Rafter_G_Weldin (***) Date 10-05-2011 03:40
At least 2000 a week with supplies paid for

$8000 per month I'd drive a chevette around with a welder!! Knew this guy once, him and I were working on an old John Deere 350 dozer for a guy. Dozer looked like it had been thru a war, guys truck and trailer that he towed it with was worse. My friend tells him he'll need some up front money to buy parts for the motors and brakes. Ol' fella was wearing coverall's and pulls this giant wad out of his front chest pocket and asks my friend how much he needed. This guy started counting off thru 100's, 50's for what seemed like forever!! Wad was about 2 inch diameter!! Didn't look like he had a dime to his name to look at what he was driving.

Not as cheap as I got this 1 I looked for a while and found this 1 took me a month to finally get the time and money to go look at it. He wanted 4000 I jewed him to 3600 on the phone went to look at he lied said it had 200k on it when it was really 265k and the left rear fender is missing a chunk from a blow out and its hard to start but once its running it runs like a top. I offered him 3k cash and he took it he had been trying to sell it for 3 months. The hardest thing to find down here is machines and beds.
Parent - - By Sberry (***) Date 09-28-2011 14:24
We could bring machines, trade for trucks,, ha Seems beds would be about the same everywhere but anything from here would be rusted, new would make more sense. Yes, building one off can be slow especially if a guy wants some custom fancy features. I see some at a dealer a while back I would be almost be tempted to use as a starting point, save a lot on the bending, etc, just things a guy has to sort thru if its not something he does every day, things you got to live with because you didn't have this or that "right"
To some extent I can understand a fabricator buying a bed,, he is busy, maybe doesn't have time and place, lots of things can make it time consuming. I rarely buy and sell equipment but seen a couple 200's I might score recently, I haven't looked to see what the market is for them, saw a 400 while back but it would have to be near 4 free for me to have interest.

Might trade my 3/4 ton crew cab for 3 machines 1 if had been completely rebuilt and painted w polished stainless hood and 200the foot of lead the truck books out on NADA for a lil over 7000
