I need so of you more experienced CWI's to help me out here. The 2010 D1.1 has updated the old table 5.4. Now you need to refer to Tables 5.9 and 5.10. Anyway tell me if I'm reading this incorrectly. Hypothetical joint...(groove weld corner joint 1-1/4" thickness of thicker plate). So I look at tabel 5.9 then see schedule B on 5.10 and now (C) is convexity or concanity and for an 1-1/4" thickness we can accept a max 3/16" convexity or concavity?
Did I miss something on the 2008 D1.1 table 5.4? when has concavity been accpetable on a groove joint? Did we not use to call that "underfill"? I can't be intrupreting this right. Please help me out guys! These new figure-table combos are just laying out too much information. It's almost like an welding inspection for dummies excerpt.
