Correct me if I'm wrong, a procedure (TYK) can be written on circular tube? see 3.13.5 I agree with you on the HSS, I have others (CWI'S)who don't see it this way , the extra verbage such as (Possible) leaves avenues open to one's own interpretation? Why I wonder do they differentiate between HSS tube and circumferential tube, I could run both 5p and cap low high. I see 3.13.4 (2) no prequal CJP groove welds with the following 3.13.5 allowing CJP leaving me confused??, Anyone going to share a opinion on this question?
I guess I'm still confused, Clause 3 @ 3.13.2, BACKING: Prequalified CJP groove welds made from one side only, EXCEPT AS ALLOWED FOR TUBULAR STRUCTURES, shall have steel backing. If someone could read from 3.13 to 3.13.5.1 and look at figure 3.6 and you will see where my original questions and comments came from. Worked in and welded to a few different codes through the years, but never seen one as gray as this.
