You can make anything fit if You work at it hard enough...
My concern would be compliance with local emission laws if You have them.
Here in Chester County Pa. You would have a problem.
If trans are the same should be 4l60e automatic. Motor will bolt up but you need to get the computer swaped with the new motor might have to splice a couple wires and rewire some harnesses, like 02 sensor, egr, fuel pump. Little work but it will work. Try this forum. Www.hotrodforum.com
317? What is that? 5.3L? Lots of connectors will probably be the same but what would be a problem is the ECM. Don't think your 5.7L ecm is going to work on a 5.3L, probably have to swap ecm's. Then the other thing bouncing around in my head is the transmission controls, probably configured for 5.7 shift points as per rpm not sure how it would work with a 5.3. I'm not so sure about the last part thought with the tranny. As far as bolt up to the trans, not sure on that one. Would assume that they(GM) would want to keep it simple for assembly line purposes.
Chevy quit using 350's in trucks in 2001, just so you know. ANd a 317..........? A 5.3 is a 323 cubic inch small block. Chevy started using them in 2000, when they quit sinking the Vortech's in the Silverado. 317.....hmmmm......this thread seems like an attempt by the poster to see how many guys will actually reply with specific facts about something that doesn't exist........?
What happened her is I was talking to a guy and he mentioned that his CO. was selling a 05 extended cab truck with a blown 350 engine. I had been talking to a guy a while back who told me that he had a 317 engine and trany out of a 02. but as soon as I got to looking I found that chevy did these engines in the V8
4.8 liter = 292.9 cubic inches
5.3 liter = 323.4 cubic inches
6.0 liter = 366.1 cubic inches
I don’t see a 350 or a 317 on that list so I tried to contact the guy with the truck but he told me that they had already sold it,
so that was the end of that
Grizz, I thought it was a kick that guys would come on and respond to a thread, having no idea whatsoever what the thread is actually about. Human nature is a hell of a thing.........just gave me a good chuckle, that's all.
Looking at it now it is obvious that I didn’t know what I was talking about when I started this thread
And a few people took a guess at what they thought I was trying to do and responded letting me know what questions to ask when I go looking for more information. I don’t think I could ask for a better response given the circumstances
no worries. don't take offense. just funny.
there's even a guy wanting to tell you about diesel engines.........ha ha, man oh man........
