Maybe use an engine hoist.  Does it have a ring to lift from?

Don't you have a really strong retarded friend?

Alright, when my retarded friend is not available, here is what I use; it's 2 7/8 drill pipe, with xx heavy 3" cross member. It comes apart with pins, and I have had it maxed out with a 3408 cat motor before.

Cheap, and simple, and it works good............here's a picture of it.

I guess I am my own retarded friend, becaUSE i DON'T KNOW HOW TO POST THE PICTURE. sAYS IT'S TOO big........damn these computers..........

Build a frame for it using square Receiver Tubing (2"x2" ID roughly with no seam; most steel shops sell it). The receiver tubing frame needs to be above your box sides when the generator is in your truck, and leave the ends of it "open" near the box sides.  Then buy 4 implement jacks from Harbour Freight.  Weld a vertical leg (2" x 2" light wall square tube) to each jack and then another piece gets welded perpendicular to those "legs" at the top of them.  Those perpendicular pieces will slide into the receiver tubing frame of the generator and you can jack it straight up, drive your truck underneath, then lower it into the box.  The vertical legs will likely need to be around 3 or 4 feet tall.

I built that set-up for my last skid and it worked great for 900 lbs+.  Cheap enough, too. I have pix on my other computer, but not this one sorry.
