I was looking to do a PJP groove weld on pipe for a procedure qualification 3" sch40. Im not sure if im looking correctly but i do not see any directions for preparing the PJP coupon.  I wasn't sure if you had to machine off root side of the coupon for tensile and root bend tests or what i exactly had to do or just test it as is.  This would be for D1.1 and D1.2.

You must use a qualified CJP (if you have any) then you make a PJP coupon to demonstrate that the specified weld size shall be equalled or exceded. See D1.1 4.11.3 and table 4.2 (note d). I dont know D1.2, i suppose that exist a similar criteria.

Regards.
