Following D.1.1 2010, 4.22. I have recently qualified several welders on FCAW 3G-4G 1" plate test, using a WPS that doesn't have CVN involved I didn't notice that the WPS has a different wire brand name and manufactor. Would table 4.6 come in to play? The classification is the same E71T-1 and so is the wire diameter.

In general, filler metal brand or manufacturer is not an essential variable when qualifying the welder. A welder qualified with one brand is qualified for all classifications, manufacturer's, and brand names of the same filler metal specification for the same process. For instance, a welder qualified for FCAW using an electrode manufactured by ESAB (Dual Shield Ultra 7100) is qualified for any electrode included in AWS A5.20 or A5.29 manufactured by Lincoln, TriMark, Alloy Rod, Brand X, or Brand Y. Per D1.1, whether shielding gas is or isn't used is not an essential variable, so the qualified welder can use either gas shielded or self shielded FCAW electrodes.

The qualification of the WPS is a different story when notch toughness is a requirement or a welding standard other than AWS D.1 is referenced. Still, notch toughness is not an essential variable when D1.1 is the applicable code.
