That is what it reminds me of except without the fancy flush hose.  We had a barrel and a dipper!

What? No trees handy?

That is a little strange.

Turkish, middle eastern. Same as in Kuwait. The Asian ones I've seen/used did not have a hose. Here is the one on the Queen Mary Ferry that runs from Mokpo, South Korea to JeJu Do Island. Which by the way is a very nice vacation spot. It's like being in Hawaii, kinda almost, sorta.

Better yet, this is the one that the Kitchen staff had "at their disposal" at one of the DEFACs I frequented in Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Working "Expat" is not for the faint of heart or weak in stomach.
Caint be scared of no Kooties.

Kind of hard to read a good book there huh? I'd probably have the nickname "brown toes" if I had to use one of those.

Some countries have different customs and traditions so they have to put signs up for those that like to indulge in their 'hobbies' in odd places. This was outside the PX in Kandahar.

It was also necessary to provide a lot of instruction in a universal language in Kandahar.

Brent,

I am at a "we own 1/4 the world's oil" Pipeline to Tanker Ship Marine terminal. You can't even spit sunflower hulls on the ground.
I miss last Spring and Summer being off in the mountains outside of Tbilisi. There, you could just go commune with nature any time the "call" came.

Yeah, just slightly similar to what the guys ran into while running the Alaskan Pipeline, only the bears were allowed to do it in the woods even though there were trees everywhere.  Had to have special toilets that would flame on as you left and do an expedited composing of your deposit.

And it was in jest, BTW.  Thanks to all for showing us the various ideas held in other places on how to handle natures call.

I have only been out of country as far as England and Ireland, some interesting experiences there.  My oldest son has been all over Europe, mainly Romania, and then one six month stint down in Zambia.  Had some interesting things to show us there as well.

But, none of us has had a go at the Middle East or Asian areas.  I'm sure they are quite comfortable with their conditions.

Have a Great Day,  Brent

That's like the toilets in Japan, minus the tank and hose. Used one of those several times while out running around Hiroshima and nature would call. Mostly public restrooms, houses and modern Japan have "Amurican" style with a twist. They have the washlet toilets, the bidet I believe is the French word. Yep, the French knew what they were doing when they did that. Used a modern one at my wife's parents house, that was like heaven!! Toilet paper, sheesh, might as well kill our food with clubs and run around in deer skin kilts and grunt a lot!! The washlet toilet, very nice, clean as a whistle!!!

That's one way to keep down those offensive odors.
