Hello;
That is a good looking truck!! That is my favorite body style from Ford. I had a 1973 1/2 ton with a 302 and three on the tree. Posi rear end. It would go through about anything as long as you didn't hang up on the twin I-beam. Sounds like with the combination you have there, you may get about the same fuel mileage and get rid of all the excess maintenance costs. Congrats on the new truck.

Have a good one;
Matt

All you have to worry about now is, 5mpg, a suspension that was a "Camper Special" in 1978 that could carry a heavy load of....not much. You put a load on that might check on some airbags and a tow behind gas station!

All those expenses can be answered simply with Ford and 6.4L

Good luck with your new truck, hope it works out well for you!

Rear springs are not a problem have already had load in it set down an inch or so.
I bought the 6.4 because it was to be the answer to the 6.0 but it wasn't and it doesn't look like the 6.7 will be any better.
I've had several 460's in the past mileage was double digit and will have no problem beating the 6.4's mpg.
And the diesel garage I go to has just as may if not more Cummins and Duramax in the lot as Fords.

I find it interesting I saw a Dodge Truck tv commercial this week with a
dually pulling a goose-neck cattle trailer and they are promoting the "Hemi Gas Engine"
With what the EPA has done and will do in 2015 to all diesel engines looks like they are getting ready to go back to gas.
