Due to the lengthy duration of this project, they've finally done away with the random 7 day work weeks.
I can plan on having Sundays off and last week took advantage of this by doing an overnight/day trip to Kapadokya (as they spell it over here).

The first picture in that article was taken from my hotel!
I'd never gone hot air ballooning before and it was totally Amazing.
The coolest part was the fact we gained probably a mile in altitude, dropped back down to cruise through canyons, was within 18" of the ground at one point, and then...
Landed the gondola into the trailer within 100 yards of the launch site.
In the foto taken at 10:20, you can see a satellite dish in one of the cave dwellings. Modern living there now!
I am definitely going back!

Okay John, do you need a baggage handler? Most folks never get to experience views like those in their lifetime. Thank you for sharing and expanding on some of the perks of our awesome trade! Best regards, Allan

Allan,

On my next contract I'm thinking about requesting that a "Clip Board Carrier" be included...
On the down side, I have a LOoooonnnnggg list of applicants that have to be sorted through.

AND!!!
This is why I got into this trade in the first place.
I was raised as a military brat, had lived on 2 continents, 3 countries and 4 states by the time I was 10 y/o.
Then there were the oil field mentors who got to bop around the planet seemingly at will.
Knew fer a fact, I'd never get out of the brig before boot camp... so... I had no choice but to follow the lead and the oil... Seemed as though everyone I knew growin up had lived in places you had to dig out the encyclopedia to find.
Tough act to follow, but I'm given'er my best shot.

It looks so much more peaceful than the ones with the gondola caught in the power lines. Wide open spaces for sure.

Man, all of that to cover just 100 yards.  Wouldn't it have been easier, even faster, to just walk it?

Beautiful sites to be sure.  All this world has it's beauty if we will just stop to admire it.  Taking opportunities that come along while travelling with our work are just one of the perks of the job.

Thanks for sharing.

He Is In Control, Have a Great Day,  Brent
