electrode batch test

Dear All

we are going to prepare batch test samples due to welding consumable qualification.we have 7018-1 2mm & 3.2mm in our project. one sample is enough or batch test shall be done for both diameter?

You need to purchase a copy of AWS A5.01. It will define the different test schedules and what testing is required.

Batch testing usually refers to the batch of flux covering that was compounded for a particular lot of electrode.

Okay, I'm sorry but I just have to ask. This query has gone totally over my head and I don't have a clue so I need to further my understanding so I know I am not missing something.

1) What code are you working too?
2) What Material specifications are you working with?
3) Are you using any filler electrodes besides 7018?
4) What type(s) of testing are you going to be doing with this batch test?
5) What are you trying to accomplish/prove with this batch test?
6) Who told you that a welding consumable qualification was required and that this is how it is done?

I must be overlooking something.
