Hi Everyone,
In the hope of helping a friend, I have come across an issue which I hope you can help me with. We have a robotic arm doing GMAW in very tight spots. To get to these spots effectively, we are suggesting to protrude the tip out of the shroud by a certain distance. The welding surface will not be flat, but be of a tight V configuration.
Will there be a significant difference in the performance of the shorud gas with this set up without changing any parameters? Will this potentially affect the lamellar flow of the shroud gas? Does anyone know the theory behind shroud gas flow from the tip to the arc?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Pascal.
