Hi,
With reference to ASME IX 2015 QW-403.5
If we have a PQR qualified with impact testing using P1G1 to P1G2 material. May we use this PQR to weld P1G1 to itself and P1G2 to itself when impact testing does apply?
Thanks
IX 2015 QW-403.5:
...In addition, when base metals of two different P‐Number Group Number combinations are qualified using a single test coupon, that coupon qualifies the welding of those two P‐Number Group Numbers to themselves as well as to each other using the variables qualified.
Question: In accordance with QW-403.5, may a welding procedure specification (WPS) that is qualified with a base material P-No. 1 Group 1 be used with a base material P-No. 1 Group 2? The WPS was qualified to Section IX - 2013 using SMAW and filler metal 7018 G.
If the procedure was qualified by welding P1 G1 to P1 G1 and impacts are required, the procedure is not qualified to weld P1 G1 to P1 G2.
A welding procedure specification (WPS) that is qualified with a base material SA 106 Gr B (P-No. 1 Group 1) can be used with a base material ASTM A 350 Gr LF2 Class 1 (P-No. 1 Group 2)? The WPS does not have a PQR qualified with impact testing. The WPS was qualified to Section IX - 2013 using SMAW and filler metal 7018 G.
