I have a chance to get one of these cheap, with a d722 kubota in it. I've heard the arc characteristic is weird with these. I'm mainly interested in the air arc capabilities, and it's 10.5 kW generator.

Does anyone weld with one of these?

Have, yes, they are different.  The arc will 'squeal' at you.  It's in the electronics vs a generator.  Several units do that anymore.

Other than that, they aren't bad units depending upon your application.
