hi Gents,
pls help me,
Do paragraphs 6.4.4(b) and (e) permit heating and cooling rates less than 55°C/h (100°F/hr) when applying postweld heat treatment? ASME V III DIV 2 - 2015,

Hi gents,

Why we can't perform pwht for <19 mm (pipe) / <38 mm (plate)?

Your reply is highly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Gent,
What code do you want to apply?

According to item UHT 82 (C), if the welds are not subjected to tempering and tempering heat treatment, the weld metal and the ZTA shall meet the impact test requirements in accordance with UG-84.ok

Now if the impact test requirements as described in UHT 6 are met for the base metal, it is not necessary to perform the impact test on the weld metal and on the welding procedure ?.
Is this correct for me?

Depends upon what you are trying to accomplish, what your welding procedures state, what material you are working with, and what your Contract Documents say.

PS, don't worry about it this time, but try to start your own thread when you have a question.

Plate thickness is 38mm (Material Grade is IS 2062 E250 Gr BR,Pno: 1 and Grno:1).
Customer told us to refer ASME SEC VIII Div1 for the PWHT . what would be hold time for the 38mm thickness plate???

I have refereed UCS-56. it tells that 1hr/inch=25mm, 15mins min.

38mm-25mm=13mm
13/25=0.52x15=7.8min+60min=67.8min=1.13 hours

Holding hour is 1.13 hours.

Is it right sir.

Please Confirm and reply soon

Plate thickness is 20mm (Material Grade is IS 2062 E250 Gr BR,Pno: 1 and Grno:1).
Customer told us to refer ASME SEC VIII Div1 for the PWHT . what would be hold time for the 20mm thickness plate???

I have refereed UCS-56. it tells that 1hr/inch=25mm, 15mins min.

25mm-20mm=5mm
5/25=0.2x15=3min+60min=63min=1.05 hours

Holding hour is 1.05 hours.

Is it right sir.
