Up Topic Welding Industry / Inspection & Qualification / AWS D1.1 section 4.12 Fillet weld qualificaiton - figure 4.1

Gents,

This is most likely an elementary question but would appreciate the help. AWS d1.1 (2015) Figure 4.15 show the setup for fillet weld procedure qualificaiton including a table that specifies fillet weld size against T1 and T2 ( plate thickness)
My questions are:
Are these plate thickness combinations T1min and T2min mandatory to qualify referenced fillet size.
What is the implication of qualifiying on non listed plate thickness? Is the procedure then not qualified or does the approval ranges change?
If there is no implicaiton then what is the use of this table?

Regards
Hanre

Thanks 357Max,

I have reviewed all the sections referenced again and still the only size addressed is that of the fillet weld itself. i.e max single pass and min multipass.
All plate thicknesses in Fig 4.15 qualifies unlimitted (3mm acc note a)
Note in Figure 4.15 then addresses plate thickness less than those listed.

So what would be your T1 and T2 range if you qualified.

10mm on 10mm

or 15mm on 15mm. or is this not allowed?
