Dear Friends,

I observe Dark blueish color in the welds ,SMAW 7018 , ASTM A500GR C .
Is it because of excess heat or because of reaction with atmospheric gases ???

Either way, Is it considered a problem or not????

"after flush grinding"

My guess is that the grinding simply made the metal hot enough to oxidize slightly.  If this is the case there is no problem.

You could try grinding a similar piece that is unwelded with the same pressure, it will likely also have a blue tint.

It should easily brush off.
