Is there anything in D1.1 that states the frequency or percentage of fillet welds that need to be MT'd?

Since you are asking about an inspection method, look in Clause 6 (Part B) of AWS D1.1:2015. It really depends on the job specifications and contract documents. Many times when NDT is specified (other than visual), it will be spelled out in those documents, otherwise it needs to be agreed upon before the job starts.

MT is not required by D1.1. VT is the only NDE required except for connections subject to cyclic loading in tension under specific conditions. Any additional NDE, other than visual, must be specified by the Owner through the Engineer.

There may be additional requirements per the building code or the project specifications, but not D1.1.

Hi All, I'm newbies here,
I need help for API 650 erection tank regarding dimensional Rafter C channel beam not enough. I already check in API 650 but did not mention what I need to do if rafter dimensional not enough, now my fitter try to do butt joint.. but to me I think this is a roof structure pressure part it cannot simply do like normal welding (in drawing only mention as normal joint connection).. any advice or it need to do zigzag joint? or put some plate to attach cover on the joint? please advise me if can show where can I find the detail for this issue.

thank you all.
