CWB/CSA W59-03

Hello, Could someone inform me of any of the major differances between
AWS D1.1 2004 and CSA W59-03. I have recieved an inquiry to qualify welders and procedures, fabricate and inspect using Canadian Welding Bureau Standards. After some research, CSA W59-03 and CSA S473-04 seem to be the standards could be applied. Also, I remember a question on the CWI exam about welding to CWB Standards, except for some minor differances CWB follows AWS code. Any input would be greatly appriciated.

CSA W59 is similar to AWS D1.1. There are some differences between CSA W59 and AWS D1.1 in their prequalified joints. Additionally, MCAW is treated like FCAW, not GMAW. Both codes have similar inspection criteria. Design wise I think there are a few differences between the two codes. CSA W473 will also have some low temperature requirements.

CSA W473-04 addresses the design and fabrication of steel fixed offshore structures whose design is based on limit states. Is your application for offshore structures or onshore structures? If it is for onshore then the standard your company would need to work to is CSA W47.1. If its offshore there is likely a jurisdiction involved (DNV or Lloyd's) and they may also require that you be certified by the CWB.

Certification to CSA W47.1 or CSA W471 is a company certification that is accredited by the CWB (they administer the standards). I would check with your customer to see if you need to be certified by the CWB to these standards.

SCUSE ME!!!!I PRAY TO YOU BECAUSE I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM: WHAT IS THE MOST EVIDENT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ISSUE "A" (2002) OF THE AMS-STD-1595 (SUPERSEDED BY AWS D17.1) AND THE FIRST AMS-STD-1595?
