Has anyone taken the Welder Performance Qualifier Exam or the Welding Procedure Qualifier Exam given by AWS?

If yes, can you offer any insight into how in-depth the exams are? Any topics for self-study?  Are the courses offered helpful? Are the courses strongly recommended? Should I consider the WPS course offered by Al Moore instead?
