First, this is a GTAW-Process Longitudinal seaming application. The material being joining is .008" Phosphor Bronze Flat Sheet. Our current welding procedure is setup using straight Argon for both torch and backing gas. The material is square butt, no special edge prep. I'm looking for suggestions to improve the process to make the weld results more repeatable. Some weld sections preform well under the mechanical/hydro forming, and other sections split at the HAZ.
Any help would be appreciated.
