search in the internet with this exact phrase sentence: "FILARC welder guide". There are two PDF files, "book No.1" & "book No.2" with very useful information about FCAW.
A rule of thumb I use, when making a weave pass. Welder shall maintain fluidity across the puddle. It’s my opinion that it should be specified on the WPS. I typically specify that no weave width shall exceed “X “times the Diameter of the electrode. Hope this helps.
So what code requirement are you using to back that statement with? Seems your still bound to the width/depth ratio and the requirements of table 3.7, aren't you ?
I think akaujalgikar was looking @ ASME. I was not referencing any code. Just what I considered good work practice. Are you Referencing AWS D1.1? Does ASME reference weld width ?
I am refering ASME as i am engaged in fabrication of pressure vessels as pe asme.
I do see what your saying in AWS D1.1, 3.7.2 and fiq 3.1
Weaving limit is based on your WPS, or in your Co. general welding requirements. I'm looking at our WPS for that process on C.S and in the technique box on the WPS it says stringer or weave. So thats the main place to look.
Hope that helps

String or Weave FCAW?
i would assume that if you are welding a pressure vessel joint, you are qualifying the procedure to ASME Sect. 9.
In Sect. 9, QW-410.1 ("A change from the stringer bead technique to the weave technique, or visa versa.")....for FCAW this is listed as a nonessential variable.
