I need some help finding amps and volts settings! I,am going to use a new electrode-mc710 with 75ar 25co2 shielding gas .045 dia. wire.We need to be in the spray transfer mode.1g-2g-3g positions, can someone help me find the welding currents for this mode (gmaw) The base metal is ASTM A36, .250-.375thickness This is going to be for a WPS also. Thanks!

Here is a data sheet for Hobart's Metal core wire, for some reason Hobart has a much more detailed data sheet than Lincoln provides.

For a given dia. wire, It should put you in the ballpark.

I have used this wire, MC710 .045 dia. extensively and had better success using a shielding gas mixture of 90% argon and 10% CO2.
Good Luck,

I agree with the last post on shielding. The MC710 runs much smother w/a 90-10 mix. I have qualified many WPS's using this Lincoln wire. Very nice in spray and pulsed-spray transfer.

You will not be able to qualify this in the 3G position. Lincoln's own data sheet denotes 1G/2G/2F only as it is designed for spray transfer. You may want to reconsider positioning or electrodes unless you go to short-circuiting transfer which is possible with this wire.

Hi DGXL!

You mentioned that one cannot run this 3G/3F? Even with pulsed spray arc transfer one is unsuccessful?

I do'nt have much experience with MC710 so, it would be interesting to read your thoughts running it with pulsed spray, and the limitations you experienced.
