The "8" in 7018 indicates the type of electrode coating and the current. 7018 can be used with AC or DC reverse polarity, and should be readily available most anywhere.

Many SMAW electrode manufacturers produce 7018 that is designed specifically for AC. Check it out. Yes they can be used for DC+, but that is the secondary usage as noted in the instructions for these eletrodes.
