Hey, im real new to welding but have always wanted to learn. im looking to do some projects this summer and feel that i should include welding into one of them. Mostly i want to make a frame for a off road go kart to put a dirtbike engine in. To do all this i need a welder of course, and now would be a good time to buy and get some good practice in. Im wondering what would be a good welder for my situation. i dont want a top of the line one, just want to get the job done. I would like to get it pretty cheap, i have no idea on prices but i would think 200-300 would be cheap? And any suggestions for a cheaper plasma cutter, remeber i will only be cutting tubing and thiner metal so once again i do not need a real heavy duty one. Thanks alot!!

Stick with a bigger name brand, Hobart, Miller, Lincoln, their smaller models are better for the dollar spent. The Millermatic 135 is a really nice model a bit more than you are specifing but well worth the bucks.
Peace,
PJS
